A few things

What does this mean for all the Playstation versions of Minecraft, will it still be supported with updates?

Couldn't $2.5 billion be better spent on oh I dunno actually making some good new IPs? Think of how many games could of been made with $2.5 billion

Is Mojang secretely making another game?

If this is all for Minecraft it seems like a waste of money, how are they going to profit from this, everything will likely have a cost now.

Microsoft can still spend $2.5 billion on new games. Some time ago they already said they're spending a billion on X1 exclusives. Also, there isn't always a guarantee a new IP will be good even from an established studio. Have you heard about Destiny?

I would assume Mojang had plans for future projects, maybe even a sequel or big updates to Minecraft.

This purchase is so huge that there must be plans we aren't aware of.

I've heard about destiny. What about it?

It's that big financial flop from Activision. I heard it only sold like 6 copies.

But I doubt those "six"  people were satisfied. Financials of a game do not equal the worth of a game.

Ltd predictions by the time 9th Gen comes out

Ps4:110million

Xbox one :75 million( was 65)

Wii u: 20 milliion

It does for the people making money off of it.

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!

I'm sure that money could have been used better elsewhere.

Probably the dumbest business move I have seen in a while... I mean, the company (Mojang) is a one trick pony, how will they ever get their money back?

PC Specs: CPU: 7800X3D || GPU: Strix 4090 || RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000 || Main SSD: WD 2TB SN850

As an investment move I don't see how this is beneficial for Microsoft at all, at least for consoles. It'll take a very long time to recoup that 2.5b. For all we know, Minecraft 2 could sell 2 million copies and then die out.

Haha I guess xD I personally won't buy destiny until they include all the Dlc. I bet it'll be awesome by then

How is this a Reuters article? The sentence structure is terrible. Reads like it was written by a video game journalist ha.

Just one good decision after other this gen aye MS? If they keep this kind of crap up the Xbox One May very we'll be the last Xbox under MS.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

I wonder how much cash there is in the company (Mojang).

Yes, there is simply no way Microsoft would overpay for something because of bad planning

This could end poorly for MS. And if it does... so what?

MS still has plenty of money. Its not like they're betting everything on Mojang.

Xbox One is still getting noteworthy regardless of what happens. I'm just curious to see what the plans with Mojang are for them to even consider buying it for that much.
