Forums - Sony - Sony insists Vita is here to stay - as an indie/kiddie game platform

Sony's treatment of the Vita is worse than Nintendo treats Wii U, and that's saying something.

At least Nintendo is releasing games for Wii U

Xbox Series, PS5 and Switch (+ Many Retro Consoles)

I just want more JRPG localization. If Sony can't be bothered to support their own damn console with new titles, can they at least help publishers in Japan localize their titles?

Xbox One - PS4 - Wii U - PC

You said 3rd party don't support vita because Sony stop supporting but 3rd party actually never support Vita, releasing only late ports of games is not a good support at all,PSP got a lot support for Sony even better then Vita but even after that 3rd party drop theirs supports.

But they still wrong to not continue their support with other games

Obviously I meant major support. The biggest support Vita is getting is Minecraft, a Microsoft game. :-p

Late ports can still improve the Vita's situation, simple as that.

But don't expect games like Uncharted or Killzone again.

You say that like its a bad thing.

I rather play games like Danganronpa and JRPGs instead.

But Minecraft was announced on vita before Microsoft buy it

They boost a little for a week it won't really change vita situation but it's easy money from for third  party they will not have those money next gen since it's probably the last Sony handheld

PS4 - over 100 millions let's say 120m
Xbox One - 70m
Wii U - 25m

Vita - 15m if it will not get Final Fantasy Kingdoms Heart and Monster Hunter 20m otherwise
3DS - 80m

What a shame...

Considering those are two of the vita's best selling titles... i'd say that it's a pretty bad thing.

not that we were expecting any AAA games though anyway :P

Normally I'd agree, but in this case both of them were good games. Killzone was actually excellent apart from being a bit short but it had a fantastic Multiplayer. I want games more like Spelunky, Hotline Miami etc. It is just perfect for them and there is actually no shortage of those games on the system. Pretty much the only thing I want from it is a Port Royale type of game.

But, way better games.

I do have interest on a Wii U, but never on 3DS or DS. I'm not that I care that much about graphics, but it was hard to play N64 visuals in the same timeframe PS3 was available and it's hard to take Wii visuals with a PS4. Even on Vita it's just acceptable to play PS3-like games with a PS4 around.

Sony support was not bad at all Gravity rush,Soul Sacrifice,Uncharted,LBP,Killzone.

People complain about the lack of Gran Turismo and God of war but those games are not even on ps4

In contrast the only effort by 3rd party was Assasin creed, other 3rd party has just released some late ports Activision didn't want to even develop on vita the cod game

But PS4 has a more noteworthy library of games and always had promising library down the road.

Sony put some noteworthy games on Vita early on, but they've clearly given up. Now they're telling people the upcoming library is basically just ports of indie games and other niche stuff.

Late ports of noteworthy games can still move some hardware. It would also be a bigger effort than we're currently seeing from Sony.

Their latest big budget games such as Tearaway and Killzone didn't sell well. Especially Tearaway did terrible and it was a great game. While everyone is dissappointed that they stopped supporting it so early on, making more big budget games for it would just throwing money away. If people were buying Tearaway and Killzone (both of which are very high quality games), they would still continue making them.  They also don't really move hardware. Vita sales were horrible for a long, long time.
