That's exactly why Soundwave and I lower our expectations for how a leading platform is supposed to realistically perform in this day and age but since the PS4 isn't meeting our current expectations it is indeed underperforming ...

Wii is right now ~30k ahead but it will be below PS4 again next month because Destiny will make PS4 do more than 500k.

PS4 is a monster... I know.

One of those two is a monster but PS4 (outside of having much higher inventory for launch) isn't it. 

only a fool disregards great sales to champion anothers of a different time.

Yes and we can't discuss that because? I thought this was a sales website? People have rationed discussion about the decline of the music industry in a logical manner all the time. 

Seems like you can't do that with video games because you'll get (I'm guessing) 3-4 kids who can't deal with their "hero brand" not being painted in the most flattering light and think you're attacking them.


Soooo since you want to discuss, I reiterate my previous question, which was no doubt lost in the mess of replies. :3

Since we've established that every market leader since, (and even before,) the PS2 has underperformed, what steps do you believe must be undertaken to elevate this generation to a level of acceptable performance?

either way... 1 month or 4 months the facts still remain. the PS4 got to 10M before the PS2. And the PS2 went onto become the best seling console of all time. 

Lets look at it another way, if you sell 300k of your console for 12 months (january to december) and end the year having sold 3.6M consoles, and I sell 50k of my console for 9 months but somehow.... I end the year (also after 12 months) having sold 5M consoles. 

Of the two of us who do you think would be regarded as more successful? How is it possible that you do not see the sense in this?

You know damn well that the comparisons aren't fair since the PS2 has had yet to launch in the majority of it's regions at that time so why don't you align the territory releases together to see how well that goes. 

You're right, it's not fair.  For the PS4.  Wanna know why?  The 10M for the PS2 is manufactored units.  Not shipped to store, just manufactored.  It's just how Sony handled the numbers back then.  They changed to the standard shipped numbers when the PS3 launched.  PS4's numbers are actual SELL-THROUGH numbers.  If we did apples to apples, then the PS4 passed PS2's "10M" months ago.

So it is ok to compare the PS4 to the PS2, yes or no? 

Or only when it favors the PS4? Seems like the Sony fanboy gestapo only wants it one way.

Fact.

PS4 is yet the fastest selling console in the history... it will be lack behind Wii soon but for now it is overperforming.

Does not matter, plenty fools in the world will always argue aginast the champ and try to tear them down.  What ever infiorities with in them that deive em to do so are theirs to deal with, not mine.

Behind Wii and PS2 soon. And it hasn't been "overperforming" for several months now, the last 5 straight months in North America have been lukewarm and the Japanese post-launch has been an utter disaster.
