Before you start talking like that, maybe you should wait and see how Sept-Dec plays out.  These past few months have had the Destiny bundle siphoning off sales and PS4 may have a great holiday.  I also agree with one poster in here, the fact that Sony and MS (MS partly due to low demand) were able to produce consoles more quickly allowed for them to keep up with demand much better than with their previous launches, which made for much larger launch numbers.  Numbers for other consoles that would have been shifted to the spring/summer months when they could have finally had enough units on shelves.  So, their launch numbers would have been lower than the PS4/XBO, but their spring/summer months higher.  Overall, the PS4 will be fine.  If sales do drop low enough, Sony will just hack $50-$100 off the price and sales will greatly jump, again.

Oh don't you worry ... If the PS4 can at least reach the 16 million mark by the beginning of next year I'll reconsider my assessment and image of the platform but until then the PS4's performance is somewhat underwhelming overall.

For now my judgement remains reserved until the end of the year ...

I am going to be real here ...

The PS4 isn't exactly what I envisioned it's performance to be since it's falling below expectations of how a market leader should be performing.

Sub 250K in North America for some months isn't "ideal" for a leading console. Perhaps just accomplishing the right moves isn't enough to muster up to the standards.

Sony is going to need to do something about this ...

Or maybe NA is not the be end all it used to be, maybe NA is becoming a secondary market.

Given the lack of big titles, what PS4 is selling is quite awesome.

LMAO it will hit 16 million end of DEC, I cannot believe you believe it wont' Holidays sells as much as the other 8-9 months combined. Second fastest to 10  mill - bad got ya ROFL. Pure spin. Going to sell a tonne in SEPT.

Creamsugar just posted that MK8 did ~66k.

Won bet with t3mporary_126 - I correctly predicted that the Wii U's LTD at the end of 2014 would be closer to 9 million than 10 million. http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/post.php?id=6673287

last of us remastered sold 157000

mario kart 8 66000

LOL, stick to that belief if you want, but if you actually look at the factors behind the launches, PS2 is pulling ahead in North America beating the PS4 soundly for several months in a row and absolutely trouncing its Japanese numbers.

The PS4 is just hiding behind the fact that it had a less staggered launch, so its total to date looks more impressive than it actually is. It's definitely not selling like the PS2, it's horrible in Japan and faltering in North America.

190k for a first August for a market leader is nothing to write home about, it's quite weak.

Even so it is still way behind PS4... it will time a good time to PS2 catch PS4... it will happen but not this year.

PS2 was at 30 million by May 2002 ...

Fat chance the PS4 can keep pace there. Unless they sell 20 million between now and next May.

you realize the ps2 launched in march 2000 right?

Secondary market to what? You guys act like there's 50 different markets.

Japan is basically gone. US is declining. I'm not even so sure Europe will match last gen's totals between the PS3 + 360 either.

The DATA shows the opposite.........your post makes NO sense... it will do 250 k easy, it's best years are ahead.... Again, if ps3, 360 had millions more to sell up front it's sales would have tapered off more in the summer.....supply and demand, something you fail to grasp...

Again the data, ttoal sales show ps4 is one of the fastest selling console s ever, and your posts is going to foolish soon. The dat you are looking at 1 or 2 random months is useless, overall sales show a different story. Hitting 10 mill faster then anything except the wii is outstanding by any metric...

Does not compute ...

It's your post that doesn't make any sense around here. If a market leader can't even pull off around 250K as a minimum for EVERY month excluding the near end of the life cycle then YOU KNOW that the platform has some issues.

A console having front loaded sales is a poor EXCUSE for it's current underperformance.
