Soundwave said: LOL, stick to that belief if you want, but if you actually look at the factors behind the launches, PS2 is pulling ahead in North America beating the PS4 soundly for several months in a row and absolutely trouncing its Japanese numbers. The PS4 is just hiding behind the fact that it had a less staggered launch, so its total to date looks more impressive than it actually is. It's definitely not selling like the PS2, it's horrible in Japan and faltering in North America. 190k for a first August for a market leader is nothing to write home about, it's quite weak. |
Even so it is still way behind PS4... it will time a good time to PS2 catch PS4... it will happen but not this year.
ToX2 ~ 43K

D3: 4-39%, 1~28, 360~19%, 3~14%

PS2 was at 30 million by May 2002 ...

Fat chance the PS4 can keep pace there. Unless they sell 20 million between now and next May.

May 2002 is 2 years and 2 months after release.
PS4 is ahead PS4 today, 10 months after release.
Between these 10 months and 2 years and 2 months the PS2 will catch and surpass the PS4.
Edit - Fixed your post ;)

Your postd are biased, and totally out of context...PS2 is a anomoly...it had no competition for years..had game slike GAT for exclusives...and japan was a biggere market back then.....
ALSO. 360 and PS3 never had the supplt ps4 did, so you cannot directly compare sales for specific months to suit your argument, you think 360 and ps3 would ahve sold as well in summer its first year when it was 400 if it sold 3-4 million more satisftying demand faster?
Your entire post sounds like someone desperate to downplay PS4, you are going to be in for a bad gen, ps4 sales are going to explode soon, and it will get to 199 faster then ps3 ever did like ps2. It wont outsell ps2, nothing will but it will be a huge success.
You are cherry picking months and data to spin...you cannot descredit sales from launch, as that directly influences sales after the fact. ps4 had more supply, meaning demand can be hit faster..,..of course ps3 and 360 sold better, they sold millions less initially meaning deamnd and shortages were still there.
Wii U did NOT double August 2013 sales. Below 60k for August could be a reality. Thanks Aqua!
Won bet with t3mporary_126 - I correctly predicted that the Wii U's LTD at the end of 2014 would be closer to 9 million than 10 million. http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/post.php?id=6673287

205K for the 360 and look where that ended up in the US. Of course, the 360 didn't have a Destiny-like game with a bundle releasing the following month to siphon off sales. And PS4 is going to slaughter the 360's 260K (by at least ~2x) for its first September since launch, as well as the 360's 2006 numbers (3.9M.) Full context is key.
