Forums - Gaming - Forbes: The iPhone 6 Isn't Going To Kill Nintendo And Mobile Isn't The End Of Consoles

This is exactly the issue. Nintendo has to complete against hand-me-down tablets and smartphones. As you said, why pay $200 for a DS and $30 per game for your child when I can just give them my old smartphone when I upgrade every two years.

Nintendo has to compete against hand-me-down anythings, like the DS or old 3DSs when new ones are bought.

This isn't new, its just more prolific.

3DS is doing OK, but it's not selling on par with the DS obviously but not even the GBA either. Lets not kid ourselves into the thinking the market hasn't been dramatically altered.

It has been altered, no one in their right mind would deny that, but the Polygon piece was straight hyperbole.

I don't think anyone has been trying to "kid" themselves about anything, to even mention it is to tease fallacy by distracting from the discussion with more hyperbole.

Polygon is such a lolz site that needs to remove the stick thats up their ass although I feel its already in too deep

PC Specs: CPU: 7800X3D || GPU: Strix 4090 || RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000 || Main SSD: WD 2TB SN850

Obviously.

Let's hit this with some cold hard math in a real life scenario.

Say you have a child whom you're buying Christmas gifts for

Would you rather:

Spend $400+ on a new iPad that has F2P games that have near-unlimited amount of microtransactions that go to your credit card as your child uses it.

Or $200 on a 3DS with a new Pokemon or Mario game on it.

Even though Nintendo sells 3DS games at $20-$40 each -- they are still more price competitive than Apple for the fact that their hardware is more price competitive and easier for parents to manage.

Or give child a 16GB iPod touch for $200 and set parental controls to where your child needs a password in order to make any purchases. That or get them an iPod touch and don't link it with a credit/debit card. Problem solved.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Aren't Nintendo declared doomed every time a new iPhone comes out?

Silly idea. Kids will still find the password. And they'll find your CC info. Or incessantly beg for microtransaction money.

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016

How will my child discover my password and how will they find my CC info? I don't raise my child to be a thief.

Your kid will get your CC info and buy shit on the eShop too going by your logic and those games will cost $40 instead of $1.

As for begging for micro transaction money. Kids don't get what they want because they beg. I just say "No". I do that now.

I hope Polygon shuts up now. Or at least that Ben guy.
