Forums - Sony - Was anyone else pleasantly surprised that PSN held up like a champ yesterday?

I mean, everyone was saying it would be down because there was no possible way PSN could handle a game this hugely popular, especially an online only game.

If we look back at the Titanfall release it was a completely different story. Xbox Live was down for all of release day for most people, and even onto the next day for some. Microsoft had to tweet to people to completely shut their bone down and unplug it for 10 seconds, then boot back up to try to get in.

I find this whole thing very impressive. Of course we'd never hear the end of it if PSN actually went down yesterday. Any thoughts?

PSN > XBL

I guess all of those server maintenance downtimes where they were upgrading their infrastructure really did help a lot more than we all thought they might. I expected intermittent downtime here and there, but I was able to play all morning, eat some food, and hopped right back on with no problems.

Sorry if this seems like a circlejerk, but we never hear when things go right, we only ever hear when things go bad, so I wanted to share my thoughts with you all. Especially since Destiny is such a hugely popular game right now. I'm sure they sold well over 1 million on PS4 alone. (not counting digital). But also the fact that it's a game that requires you to be online to play just impressed me even more.

Thank you for listening to my random thoughts. I'll let you all talk now if you want.

You just add some more servers temporarily. Its not suprising when a company actually does uses some brain from time to time.

If your servers go down when a game gets released you just couldnt be bothered to do something to prevent it.

Well the game is hosted on Bungie servers which helps. The staggered pre-loading was the most sensible thing they did

i was able to download destiny in 2 hours, on psn! i was impressed.

I cracked and charged it due to peer pressure for destiny co-op.

Yeah Sony did their homework just in time before the big thing, props to them.

So it is happening...PS4 preorder.

Greatness Awaits!

is it played on PSN servers, or Bungie?

Even if it isn't, It's still just as impressive to me. The Titanfall fiasco had people not even able to login to Xbox Live at all.

i got kicked off twice but it was both on the same level so i'm gonna put it down to that for now
