kitler53 said: i think the review was fair. most of the criticism was prefaced with "this is nitpicking". in there they called smash "the perfect formula" and had lots of other praise. the only real criticism was that they didn't like the control schemes of wiimote or wiimote + nunchuck (although the part they didn't like about wiimote + nunchuck was the d-pad not being great for smash attacks and i wish they would have said something about turning motion control on. i'm guessing they didn't release they could.)
all in all 9.3 is a good score. the criticism was fair. i approve. |
1. No, the review was not fair. The reviewer did not mention the game modes, items, assist trophies, the Stage builder, or the ability to take photos.
2. The reviewer calls The Subspace Emissary a remake.
"the grandest innovation is undoubtedly the Subspace Emissary - a standalone single player experience. Ever seen Cannonball Run? In it, 15 then-famous actors dash across the US. It's a narrative mish-mash and bloated as hell. We're pretty sure Subspace is a remake."
3. The reviewer can not tell the difference between certain characters because of thier similarities in size, weapon of choice, or weapons (Link and Pit both use swords and a bow. Pit has two swords though).
"but has left a bloated cast that struggles to hide the basic character types each fighter boils down to. Signature moves aside, it's hard to see where Dedede differs from Bowser, and if Link, Ike and Pit weren't programmed by the same guy, we'll eat our sword flurry."
4. How can a reviewer review a game by Nintendo and not mention the non Nintendo characters that are in the game. Sonic and Snake are big deals in a game that pays fan service to Nintendo fans.
It's a poor review and it is more saddening to see that gamers agree with this review. I'm not talking about the score but about how the reviewer reviewed the game. It's as if he watched videos on YouTube and then wrote the review.
