Try to think a little, they dont need to pay for exclusive since the games are like exclusive, you really think they would pay to counter 10 sales on X1 ? Common sense please

Sony is more than likely publishing the game and taking care of the localization and distribution costs. Xbox is irrelevant in Japan and no one will probably shed a tear if it gets one less game lol.

It's not just the cost of localizing stuff for the japanese market, it's also the challenge of marketing western games to the japanese, isnt it? During the two previous generations Microsoft really invested a ton of money and effort there. It didnt do them that much good in the end, due to the obstacles for a western company to compete with the japanese gaming industry on its own home turf. Nevertheless, back then western games on the Xbox platform could at least expect to be backed by Microsofts considerable wallet. This gen MS seems to have cut their losses with regard to the japanese market, so maybe it makes sense for Activision et al outsourcing the job of marketing their IPs to a japanese company with some experience selling stuff to the japanese?

So does this have anything to do with the perfume fiasco I wonder? Perhaps Sony was publishing those games in Japan but allowed it on Xb1 out of fair play but after that fiasco they pushed hard on their publishing rights in Japan forcing MS to take down their advertising?

Man, I can just IMAGINE the immense sum of money that was required to secure that exclusivity from the vibrant Xbox One Japanese install base.

In all seriousness though, it does suck when this kind of thing happens, and I have no doubt that people WILL complain about not being able to play Arkham Knight on their platform of choice. ...but since they're all Japanese, and there's likely only a small convention hall full of them, no, we're probably not going to be having the Internet explode over it.
