Forums - Gaming - Today's Apple iPhone event is important for gaming, and more bad news for Nintendo

Can see it with kids, my nephew and his friends plays on tablets now as much or more than his PS3. He doesn't even want a 3DS or Vita, desperately wanting an smart phone as that is what his friends have now. This has all happened in about five years, in five more hard to say what teenagers or even young adults will prefer.

Kids play on tablets and smartphones now more than they do 3DS. People need to get with the times and understand that.

In the future this gap will only continue to grow.

Can't wait to put my iPhone6 on pre-order after todays announcement. Haven't updated my phone for almost 4 years. Still have a 4S.

I think that's why there's a new 3ds: going more core since there's no way in hell Nintendo can compete with Apple in the casual market.

Turning something not even game related into an anti-Nintendo topic.

I love gaming journalism -__-

People still buy this overpriced junk?

yes because aparently its the easiest os to use(im not saying it is), but the amount of older people that own them because sales people in phone shops go oh its easiest phone to use, nothing to do with the mark ups they get

old skool

Apple, man they have people brain washed! I can't tell you how many of these people think they invented the smartphone and strongly believe they are innovative... They have not been innovative since the first iphone and even then they just take existing tech and repackage it. I also love the "Apple invents" comments. I have never seen a more brainwashed fan base in all my life.

I wonder how many kids who really like gaming will go for an $600-$800 phone to play angry birds, or a $130 3ds to play real games. This is something that they have to get clear, they are not gamers, a real gamer will not play games on a phone unless is for like 5min. So anyone who really wants to play games will always opt in for a dedicated gaming console.
