I'll own both. I have the 3DS version pre-ordered, and I'm pretty sure the Wii U version will come out around the day of my birthday, so I'll pick it up then.

The Wii U version on day 1 and the 3DS version just before my next vacation. Or maybe sooner if the versions have some nice cross-platform features.

I say I'll buy only the Wii U version right now... Sure... but when I see the 3DS version right there in a store sooner... my opinions might change a little...
