that would be like saying jenga is a sport because it needs you to move arms and torso, as well as having eye to to hand co-ordination. come on man, in gold you stand, swing the golf bat, ride a freaking car and have somebody else hold your shit. fat 60 years olds play it. its in no way a sport, its insulting to all sports and people who play sports to call it a sport.

Well, soccer is a sport and it's played at high competitive level. But you can surely find fat 60 year olds playing some soccer at weekends. Could a fat 60 year old play golf competitively? We can extend that for a lot of sports.

They can still be disciplines.

im confuse, so they will not cover esports because it is not sports?

then why do I keep seeing poker tournament on my sports channel?

why do I have pawn shop on my history channel?

why i don't see music videos on MTV?

why do i see real people on cartoon network?

why, why, why?

Well sport networks in Canada broadcast poker tournaments so they have no reason whatsoever to dismiss eSports.

Signature goes here!

Wait, people don't consider chess a sport over there?

He's 100% spot on. I've always considered it to be like chess and checkers, but I'd always assumed that those were considered sports. But yeh, esports are esports, not sports sports.

What disappoints me is that they're not planning on increasing their coverage for esports. They're growing more popular every year. ESPN's gonna miss out big time if they don't seize this opportunity now. At the very least, they should try to cover most big tourneys on ESPN3

First off, eSports has an s at the end becuase they're several sports, and thus not "a sport".

Second off, anything that incorporates random elements by design is by definition not a sport, so quite a few games played as eSports would fall to this.

Third off, while many of them could be labled sports the same way Chess could, they could also be labled "not very good" sports, the same way that ball game you made up with your cousin when you were seven could.

from the same people who believe they are sportif by watching sport on TV.

come on.

If Chest, golf and Bridge are sport - you know damn rigth they are not Neutral on the subject.

How can you compare chess and bridge to golf? Golf is undoubtedly a sport.

hobby at best.

'' However, a number of competitive, but non-physical, activities claim recognition as mind sportsThe International Olympic Committee (through ARISF) recognises both chess and bridge as bona fide sports, and SportAccord, the international sports federation association, recognises five non-physical sports, although limits the amount of mind games which can be admitted as sports. ''

Mind sports, is used since 1996 to describe sport focus 90 % on the mind.

But imagine IF Chest club and bridge a reconised as sports Jok everywhere will flip table Saying Think of the children. (and Now Game ?!? who will  they bully?? )

People just need to stop being mind stuck and change there view Pretty much, the same way God changed his mind about black people 1978.(In a June 1978 letter, the first presidency of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints proclaimed that “all worthy male members of the Church may be ordained to the priesthood without regard for race or color. Something, heretic before.) <- just to be clear its something funny that really happen.

The weather is a random element (and creationists would argue even by design)... so most outdoor sports aren't sports? ;)

It's not a sport, so I agree 100%.
