Heck, tbh, most of them are a step backwards in a way compared to the wii version except the graphics...

As good as it was, I did find 3D World a big step backwards from the Galaxy games.

MK8 and Tropical Freeze were improvements though, in my view.

I was comparing 3D World to 3D Land when I made that vote. Come to think of it, 3D Land is 8th gen too. Oops. It's hard to compare it to the Galaxy games, but I generally like the 64/Sunshine/Galaxy style of Mario better than the 3D Land/World style. Pikmin 3 was a downgrade in every respect save graphically, in my opinion. I concur that MK8 and Tropical Freeze are improvements on the Wii versions, but by no means the best in their series. The battle mode and character selection in MK8 prevents it from being top notch for me, and as nice as Tropical Freeze is, it's got nothing on the Rare trilogy. I'm hoping Smash 4 will be a leap forward, and I suspect I'll like it, but I doubt it will be universally regarded as such. Xenoblade Chronicles X will likely be the first game to be universally regarded as a giant leap forward from last gen, and hopefully Zelda as well. If a Metroid ever gets released, they'll be hard pressed to not make it a leap forward from Other M. Yoshi looks like it'll be a step forward, though it's not clear what it's to be compared to, since the last console Yoshi was Yoshi's Story. Kirby looks like it'll be a step backwards. Don't even get me started on Star Fox. There's really no way it can please me that Nintendo would ever be daring enough to try. Mario Party 10 looks like it'll win the whole series by default just because of Bowser mode, but there's not really much of a contest with that...

I'd actually put MK8 ahead of any other MK game, (mostly for being the most fair) and Tropical Freeze tied with DKC2 as the best of its series, but hey, to each their own.

The thing with Xenoblade Chronicles X is it has huge, one-of-the-best-games-of-last-gen boots to fill. Besides graphics, it will be hard pressed to match the sheer brilliance of its Wii predecessor. (Though I don't doubt it'll be a great game in its own right)

And yeah, I'm not optimistic about Starfox, what little we've heard sounds terrible.

MK8 because the difference in graphics from the Wii version is pretty huge, and while 3D World looks really nice, the gap is not as big when compared with Galaxy 1/2.

MK8, because of DLCs, first Mario Kart game (or Mario console game) to add new stuff and for a very good value.

MK8 because of online features like MKTV, improved online connection (at least for me), Youtube integration.

Mario Kart 8.

Hmmm, well, you specified "Last Gen" predecessor, so I guess you're referring to Wii installments instead of 3DS installments? Pikmin technically didn't have a last-gen installment (I don't count those Wii remakes), but in any case, I think all of the WiiU versions of 1st party games are much better than their predecessor except perhaps if you count the Galaxies as predecessors to 3D World (MK Wii is also really good).

Basically: MK8 is far better than 7, 3D World is loads better than 3D Land, NSMBU buries all of the other "new" Marios, Tropical Freeze positively dwarfs DKCR, and Pikmin 3 is easily the best in the series for me.

Mario 3D World probably, it is significantly advanced over Mario 3D Land, adding HD graphics, much better level design, and co-op multiplayer.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

People seem to forget the OP questiong. Its "wich is a bigest leap foward?" People keep saying that its their favorite game. You guys have to realize that DK, mari kart, 3dworld maybe, have not done nothing new. They just improved things that are comon with the new hardware. The bigest leap is for pikmin, cuz even if it does not add much new, it added multyplayer wich is a new way to play the game, while the others play the same as their predecesor, even if they have better mecanics and fisics and graphs, they are still basic.

It takes genuine talent to see greatness in yourself despite your absence of genuine talent.

MK8 so far, but I'm thinking Zelda Wii U (and possibly Xenoblade Chronicles X) will become the definitive answer to this question when those games release.

As per usual the poll and the thread don't match.
Since I haven't played P3, I voted MK8, because its feels so different from MK Wii, I actually, want to play it. If it wasn't for melee I would play it more.

Nah, I don't think the change was that great. It feels more polished in the graphics department, and the online feels fresh without über haxors everywhere, and it included good things from MK7.

It's a polished Mario Kart Wii, with a new control scheme and elements from Mario Kart 7 included. *runs far away*

New control scheme? You clearly never played Mario Kart with thae the Classic Pro controller. In fact, the additional control schemes for this version is gamepad and Wii U pro controller
