Hmm, no one interested in the comparison. Maybe for the better lol

I don't like how you include indie games in the data.

Also, Diablo 3 was mainly reviewed only on the PS4 console, 56 critics vs 13 critics.

If you take away indie games and remastered games like Last of us and Rayman.

That leaves us with only Diablo 3.... which is available on both console.

Current state = Sad for both PS4 and Xbox one for new IPs and next-gen games.

Hunn, Why Diablo 3 is only 86 on the XOne?

Lol, I LOVE how people want to disqualify games just cause they are ports and/or indie. The only reason they do this is to even the playing field for their console of choice. The fact is, these games do count and people are playing them. Of course, people can choose to continue to close their eyes and put their fingers in their ears, while pretending that the PS4 is only selling because of hype.

Or maybe because it's simply their honest opinion that games like Fifa, uncharted or Halo are much more important as Rogue legacy or Towerfall?

PS4 isn't selling because of hype (well, a little but not only), PS4 is selling because it has a great price, the brand has a lot of fans and because the hardware is the strongest and because Sony didn't fuck so much up like MS did last year. Not because people bought a PS4 to play Resogun and Rogue Legacy... And becaus eof games still to come.

It's amusing how some like you try to pretend that games like Towerfall are as important for a console as games like Asscreed or Uncharted are and how you put every game which got a mEtascore in the same list as if every game would count the same if 99 cent games or 60 dollar games.

Yeah I bet if PS4 would have 10 games like Uncharted and XBO would have 15 games like Towerfall that you would say "XBO is the better choice it has more games above 85 META". Common...

I have never seen a person in real life who bough a console for an indie game (maybe for Minecraft) and I see a lot of people who buy consoles for games like Destiny.

Indie games are fun and all but with maybe very few exceptions they won't be the reason to buy a console for.

You now the funniest part about all this indie games stuff since last year? The 360 got thousands of inide games and because of this sheer amount of games 360 has probably many more games as PS3  and Playstation fans said "360 has no games".  Indie games only started to be important when Sony got an advantage with them right?

Or maybe there is a real reason why these games are so much cheaper? Most indie games would get destroyed in reviews if they would cost 60 bucks and like I also already said, if a game like Infamous would be an Indie game it would get a Metascore of something like 100...

With indei games it is mostly like with everything in life. You get stuff for a lot of money or for cheap and people use all of that and have fun with it but please don't compare a normal Swatch with a Lange & Söhne.

That people disqualify ports is also not really surprising. Why exactly should I care as much about a PS3 to PS4 port as about a new game only available on new gen when I already own a PS4? These games are obviously much less important as deciding factor for the new gen. And that counts for ports on XBO or WII U as well, not only on PS4. I simply won't buy a PS4 for these games but I will buy one for games I can only get on the new gen or at least for those which are much better as on old gen.

So you're the guy that fork over 400$ for Flower, Resogun & Fez. These games must of simply blown your mind. Would you go to your friends telling them to buy a PS4 in order to play gems like Fez and flowers. "THey're the bomb rated in the 90's"

Come on PS4 is selling because it's the most powerful console at an amazing selling price. Hype is selling the PS4 and it's not going away anytime soon. But I'm not going to make comment claiming that indie software like flower and fez are system sellers and people are buying up PS4 in drove to play these games.

Where's the Wii U?

This study is absolutely worthless when you intentionally leave off an entire console -____-

Indie games tend to be rated well. But congrats to the ps4

Indeed. There is a clear benefit given to indie games and a lack of coherence in commercial reviews.

For example a game like Fez might get a 90 and a game like say mass effect 2 may get a 90 aswell. Are these games of comparable quality? I dont see how. One can make the argument that fez is much cheaper, but not only all games drop massively in price as that rule, to be true, is not used for every title. Say Ratchet and clank into the nexus. It was a cheaper game but was judged as a max price one. Borderlands 2 vita, costs 30 euros, was judge againt the pc and ps3 version. Many more cases like that.

A rule to exist needs to be applied to all and not just some. I understand the will to incentivate indies, but to inflate their ego is not the way to make them improve. A critique must be fair across the board and not make exceptions for some, but not others.

Sorry i went on a tangent there, this isnt meant as a critique to the ps4 but to commercial reviewers in general.

Don't you mean to say that Xbox fans used to go on and on about indies, but the sec Sony saw the value in them and started REALLY pushing them (without the crazy restrictions MS put on them), now all of a sudden indies don't mean anything?  And the way Sony is actually advertising them in PS ads and at large conferences, yes, they do matter.  No one said as much as AAA games (nice strawman there), but they do matter to core gamers, the ones actually paying $399 for a new console.  Which is why most PS4 fans/owners laugh their asses off when people from other fanbases try to claim it has "no gamez."  I guess those 10.2M+ owners are playing practically nothing.

Also, ridiculous point about price.  Of course cost factors into reviews, it always has.  Most indies are much smaller than AAA games, in world size and game length/content, which is why they cost so much less than bigger budget games.  It's expected.  You wouldn't see a game like Rogue Legacy trying to pass itself as a $60 game.  Or do you not think people should expect more from big budget games they pay $30-$50 more for and has staff numbering in the hundreds/thousands?  Of course, many of these indies still provide just as much fun, and usually more innovative gameplay mechanics, as their AAA counterparts.

Good for PS4, but its seems like the 80s are the games actually moving hardware.
