I lol'd at all of those saying that DMC4 doesn't look too good to be ported to the Wii. It's obvious that you haven't spent a minute playing the game, because the game is a visual marvel, very beautiful, and looks better than probably even the most graphically impressive Wii games. There is no "so-so textures" or anything like that.

I know the game is more detailed than the OP says, but "too good" for the Wii? I am so sick of that crap.

you can be sick of it all you want, but graphical power in Wii is well documented, If only your 'sickness' meter can somehow boost Wii's processing power. *sighs*

Just be glad you are getting ports of last gen's classics, RE4 and Okami. Who knows, maybe Capcom will port DMC3 to Wii.

To be honest if you want to buy the game just buy another console. Wii is like gamecube on steroids but it's no PS3 or Xbox. Game would have been really gimped, and it is too good(graphically speaking) for wii. So stop bullshiting about they can reduce res. on texture. They would have to redo everything and it's not worth the money and time.

Eh noone forced you to buy a Wii, you knew what you were getting into when you bought one....

It's funny the number of posts we see from ppls that bought a Wii and are now asking for Wii port of traditional HD consoles....

And no, DMC4 won't run on 2 GameCubes tapped together :p

PS3-Xbox360 gap : 1.5 millions and going up in PS3 favor !

PS3-Wii gap : 20 millions and going down !

My comment had nothing to do with processing power. It was the stupid notion that procession power makes a system more "worthy" of a game.

"Just" be glad. Sorry, but the industry doesn't work that way. It goes where the money is. I'm not saying the Wii will get ports of HD games, but it's possible whether you like it or not.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

"Well the same would apply to a multi-platform game, but companies haven't found that not worth the effort. "

No, as I explained, that cannot be said for a PS3/360/PC multiplatform game. In most cases Polygon models and textures should remain approximately the same, even the shaders should be the same in most cases. Of course there will be adjustments but the hardware is just comparable. If you look at DMC4 for 360 and PS3 you will see, that they are almost identical.
That really cannot be said for Wii : (PS3/360/PC) Here you would need to redo everything.

You just have to look at Star Wars Force Unleashed, for PS3 and 360 and PC they will take the Havoc physics engine and their own interaction engines, for the Wii they have to develop a different version.

Oh and of course it is possible to port HD games to the Wii. And there are examples where it has already happened. But the question is how "little" the downgrade is and how easy it is to do that.

If you look at the ports until now it seems to require a big downgrade and it doesn't seem to be so easy otherwise more studios would do it. Its of course also possible that developers are just stupid and don't want the money lying on the street but you know what I do not think that is very likely.

Thank you Dolla Dolla, you are awesome as always... and SotC sucks ;) haha

Could DMC4 be done on the Wii? Yes, with proper porting and optimization. Will they do it? No. Devil May Cry has always been a Sony franchise, and the gross of the fans (if it indeed has fans) own Sony consoles.

It could look like this:

Wow. You twisted "a multi-platform game" to be specific to the HD systems, which I did NOT QUALIFY.

If you can't be bothered to counter my REAL comments, you can't prove why the Wii won't be worth the effort.

Then WHAT DID YOU QUALIFY? Your arguments are a bit vague and hard to follow. How about some clear statements?

"you can't prove why the Wii won't be worth the effort. "

I don't have to prove anything. And I didn't even say that. I said that until now developers do not seem to think that its worth the effort because most HD only games are NOT ported to the Wii. And I think developers likely have more insight knowledge in this matter than you or me.
So what are you thinking? Do you think it would be easy and profitable to port DMC etc. to the Wii? And why do you think devs don't do it until now. (Except in rare cases and then almost always in PS2 quality (together with a PS2 version)

Ahem, Capcom decided to abandon console exclusivity and port it to the Xbox 360. Maybe not port, multiplatform development or whatever. There will also be a PC version (which i might get) so Capcom clearly decided to make the game for as much platforms as possible but they clearly avoided a Wii version so porting obviously something they could not do on the fly. The same thing is happening with Civ Revolution-they had to put the Wii version on hold because they couldn't use the same textures from the PS3/360 version and didn't have PS2 textures to share with. Right now, you think with the success of RE4 on the Wii, Capcom would consider making a Wii version of RE5 but they show no sign of doing that...wait that's an entirely new point, i'm going to stop there. Look DMC4 can be made on the Wii but they need to redo it which defeats the purpose of porting (like Capcom porting Okami) So answer that question, why Capcom would have no problems with porting Okami, RE4, RE0 but wouldn't port Lost Planet or DMC4?
