GPU is still Pica200 and at the same clock? also only 10mb of Vram? holy shit i didn't know that! this is too low! guys I like Nintendo but seriously the hardware is so damn weak! how on earth they could make games like RE:Rev for this thing...

the 128 MB of FCRAM helps and the Pica200 is quite a snappy GPU

Snappy? u seriouse? if we compare this to PowerVR inside the PSV its anything but snappy and if we wanna compare it to Nvidia's K1 Adreno 420 it gets handily destroyed, all of these are mobile GPU's as well.

The Adreno 420 would smash the Pica and the PowerVR. But if it wasn't for the second screen, the Pica200 would hold it's own against the PowerVR and outclass it in terms of shaders. If the Pica200 was clocked at it's full 400Mhz it would outclass the PSV's PowerVR. The real merit of the PSV is it's quad-core Processor.

scource: http://www.gameranx.com/updates/id/23907/article/rumor-new-3ds-hardware-specs-details-leaked/ and http://alwaysnintendo.com/rumor-new-nintendo-3ds-specs-leaked-codename-revealed/

So we all know the New 3DS will be more powerful than it's older brothers, so I did some digging. These 2 websites claim to know the specs of the new 3DS through dev kits.

Rumours are: triple the clock speed, double the FCRAM, same GPU and same VRAM (although many other scources also claim an extra 4 MB of VRAM)

Compared to the older models this would mean:

CPU would go from a dual ARM11 MPCore clocked at 268 Mhz and a single core ARM9 clocked at 134 Mhz ---> dual core processor clocked at 804 Mhz and a single core processor at 402 Mhz (L2 cache would be added as well)

GPU would stay the Pica200 at 268 Mhz (no real surprise, the Pica200 is plenty of powerful enough for the 3DS)

RAM: 128MB of FCRAM (fast cycle random acces memory) and 6MB of VRAM (video random acces memory) ---> 256MB of FCRAM and 6/10MB of VRAM (different rumours point to 6 or 10 MB's of VRAM)

Do note that these numbers are all speculation and that they are in no way a definitive measurement of performance.

More reasonnable sources say double the CPU clock speed which would make it 536Mhz which is decent with a dual arm11 core. Triple for an ARM11 would be too much (heat/power consumption).

The main problem of the 3DS was the CPU frequency, from the start 268Mhz was too little and same as GPU when generally in consoles CPU frequency is double the GPU frequency.

The Nokia 808 PureView had a 1.3 GHz ARM11 processor, as did the second-generation Symbian^3 lineup, bar the 5xx series. I see no overheating issues there.

And, yeah, the CPU simply isn't enough for the 3DS.
