Smash isn't going to be delayed past Christmas. It's THE game Nintendo is offering for the holidays and they already have it working on a pretty decent level as seen by Smash tourneys and demos. The Amiibo is already on pre-order and the only game it currently works for is Smash. It's a holiday release.
A gamepadless SKU is the dumbest of all the suggestions I've seen thrown around a lot. Crybabies already whine about the New 3DS having games that are exclusive to it, even though those games aren't possible on a 3DS. How do you think people would react to a gamepadless SKU when a large chunk of the games (current or coming) heavily feature the gamepad as a necessary item to play? Zombi U, W101, Mario Party 10, Captain Toad, Super Mario 3D World, Kirby and the Rainbow Curse, Mario Maker, Project Guard, Project Giant Robot, Nintendo Land, Mario vs Donkey Kong, etc. all have portions that REQUIRE a gamepad to my knowledge. Then there are games that just greatly benefit from having a gamepad, like WWHD, HW, Mario Kart, and NSMBU. The idea is bad and you should feel bad for suggesting it.
Finally (for now at least), there's the suggestion to change the name. I get it, people in general are extremely stupid and easily confused about the Wii U being its own console. Changing the name now isn't going to accomplish anything other than confusing people even more. All they can do is learn from the mistake going forward and maybe stick to naming their system with a regular brand name. Hell, call the next one the Super Nintendo 2 ffs.
