No, they weren`t just a tribe who decided to invade.

You asked me before if your quote was one of those taken out context. It was one of those taken from within a bigger story.

This is where it started:

Deut 25:17-19:

“Remember what Amalek did to you, on the way when you were leaving Egypt, that he happened upon you on the way, and he struck those of you who were hindmost, all the weaklings at your rear, when you were faint and exhausted, and he did not fear God. It shall be that when the Lord, your God, gives you rest from all your enemies all around, in the Land that the Lord, your God, gives you as an inheritance to possess it, you shall wipe out the memory of Amalek from under heaven – you shall not forget!

Then they just kept coming and coming the exterminate the jewish people. And God kept on forgiving.
And with Saul`s failure, they kept attacking during Kind David`s reign - where 400 amalekites escaped - and once again through descendants, the same people almost caused the destruction of Israel (book of Esther).

They wanted extermination, and that`s exactly what they got.

In the end, it`s no different from people who don`t forgive, to no get forgiveness. You get what you serve. Also, there were cases in the Bible, like the woman in Jericho, Lot and another elimination that actually spared children and woman (i think).

God already knew and even forerold by prophecy that Amalek and his people would perish. If He didn`t spare some of his people, it was actually an act of mercy to save the souls of the purest ones, souls that would have been become impure with time.

You know, a lot of the passages you and soriku have posted read like war propaganda (I suppose it is really). It's kind of disturbing that no one has picked up on the rhetoric.

Find an excuse, get people riled up for vengeance, and go to war.

Or maybe it helps show that actions have consequences and that no evil goes unpunished and no good goes unrewarded.
Also, it helps show how God is willing to wait for people to change - with other parts not posted here, that show how quick He is to forgive.

Framed in the same way war propaganda is.

God is just the excuse given in this instance.

A being created the universe.

Everything was created by an atom that appeared out of nowhere exploding and created the universe.

Which is fact and which is fiction? I'll let you decide which sounds more fictional.

Someone missed science class.

"identify supernatural elements, such as talking animals, as fictional."

Why does a talking animal have to be fictional??

First, it could be accomplished crudely by implanting a powered speaker in the animals body. I'm sure an accomplished magician could devise a better scheme than what took me 5 seconds to think up.

Secondly, it could be accomplished through provolution technology: http://www.orionsarm.com/eg-topic/45bbfdbc381f4

All I got from this is that secular kids are boring and have little imagination.

They were a nomad tribe that decided to exploit the Israelites. God never forgave them; he told the Israelites he would wage war with the Amalekites generation to generation back in Exodus. Hell in the quote you posted he says they are not to forget what happened when they first attacked. Where did you get this idea that God wanted to forgive them?

Israel was right to fight back in self defense, there's no issue with that, but then God's solution with the Amalekites was just complete annihilation. Not just the Amalekite warriors but any innocent women and children too. And animals. Saul decided to spare the king Agag and the animals at least, but God was having none of that. Afterwards the Amalekites still come back, so what was the point? Saying they were all impure seems like a generalization.

Decided to exploit the Israelites?
"and he struck those of you who were hindmost, all the weaklings at your rear, when you were faint and exhausted"
That`s beyond exploitation.

God didn`t forgive because they didn`t change, not because God didn`t want to forgive. What the Bible shows quite often is how quick He is to forgive and how slow He is to punish. Not to mention the most important showing of His mercy: Jesus.
They were given more than time enough to change and even their descendants keep on attacking the Israelits.

He told what He would do because He already knew how things would play out.
The "not to forget" part can also be seen as showing the jewish people that evil does not gon unpunished.

Problem with Saul was that, apparently, for the Amalekites to keep on existing, they either existed in tribes or he simply lied and let more of them live.
It`s not a generalization. As i showed before, there were cases where people from tribes were spared and there were cases like this one and Sodoma, for example, where there was no more purity.

Alot of people who follow the bible don't just take one verse out of the bible they look at the full bible.

Gods forgiveness-- God loves everyone even the sinner see parable "The lost son" luke 15: 11-23" I know your going to say hey that was Jesus.

so also see John 14: 7

Why just talk about cananites God also made all people die  Gen 3.  So everyone who has ever died is God's fault right? Too bad in the same book he also gave us all life.  So an argument about cananites being destroyed by God is sorta silly. Everyone that knows anything about the bible knows God is going to destroy the sinful much like in evolution the survival of the fittest(followers of christ). In much the same way god wants productive animals through evolution god wants good decent people through following christ. There is an actual memory verse to back this up

Matthew 7 :

17 Likewise every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit.

18 A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit.

19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.

20 Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them.

Yes Jesus knew how to do genetics.

You must think you're so funny.

Remember how you complained to quite a few people about how they pretend or think they know you and all that jazz?

It's not even the "being created the universe" bit that's hard to believe objectively (though who says any of mankind's religons are even close on who/what that being(s) is) ... it's the dozens (hundreds?) of other laughably phony stories and non-sensical "rules" in the bible that make it hard to take seriously.
