Forums - Nintendo - Exclusive software in development for New Nintendo 3DS (Besides Xenoblade Chronicles)

Complete dick move. This is worse than what Microsoft was trying to do with the X1. People should not blindly support this.

Its the same as GBC or DSi, more RAM/faster CPU and a few extra features. Both of those upgraded revisions had a select few exclusives that werent playable on previous models. Neither of those devices recieved backlash so im not sure why this one is.

XENOBLADE WOULD NEVER HAVE COME TO THE 3DS ANYWAY! THE ORIGINAL 3DS DOES NOT HAVE ENOUGH POWER TO PLAY IT!!!

Honestly, the 3DS is poweful enough to run Xenoblade, considering how comparable it is to the Wii in terms of hardware, likely they don't want to work hard enough on the port though, and more power makes up for a lack of effort. Also, they mentioned other games to be announced in the future.

I'm sure Xenoblade is just a ploy to get people to buy a new console. Nothing more, nothing less. For me personally, I have a 3DS XL and I'm not upgrading after just 3 years on the market. If games won't play on it, I'll wait it out until a true new handheld comes out and buy that.

Discipline. It's a thing.

We don't really know that until the actual hardware specs on the New 3DS are released. It's probably a CPU issue like Iwata suggests because while the 3DS's GPU is more than capable of handling Xenoblade's graphics, I don't think it can actually run the game itself very well because the CPU's probably not strong enough to handle Xenoblade's massive open world at that level of graphical capability without a lot of chugging (and Xenoblade's world is massive).

We'll see when the hardware specs are released though.

I think it's a sign that Nintendo are very wary of developing a totally new handheld console. With Android and IOS gaming on the rise it's a good move to test the waters before investing in a new piece of tech. Look at the Vita, it's been a disaster....

I think it's a sign that Nintendo are indeed planning a "fusion" portable/home console for their next gen system. Since 3DS is already well into its life cycle I think this is basically meant to be a holdover  handheld of sorts that can be both new in some ways and also work towards extending 3DS' life cycle to a 6+ year span or so like the DS had. Until 2017 or so when I'm guessing the handheld/home console hybrid will come out.

looks like i get a new 3ds

QFE.

You can be dead sure Capcom is cooking Monster Hunter 5 exclusive to New3DS as we speak, on Iwata's demand. 4 million costumers forced to re-buy the system --> instant profit
