XENOBLADE WOULD NEVER HAVE COME TO THE 3DS ANYWAY! THE ORIGINAL 3DS DOES NOT HAVE ENOUGH POWER TO PLAY IT!!!

Honestly, the 3DS is poweful enough to run Xenoblade, considering how comparable it is to the Wii in terms of hardware, likely they don't want to work hard enough on the port though, and more power makes up for a lack of effort. Also, they mentioned other games to be announced in the future.

I hope new 3ds will stop back compatibility with DS games!

Why do you hope it will stop?

Away with teh past, in with the new... i hope that 3ds and 3ds xl will be disc as well... just keep teh 2ds as it is different and cheap enough!

You obviously don't know anything about handheld development. Disc -> lower battery life. It is precisely why the Vita doesn't use UMD's.

They said it wasn't powerful enough. I think I'll take their word over yours.

I bet the Wii U would sell more than 15M LTD by the end of 2015. He bet it would sell less. I lost.

Everyone here needs to calm the fuck down. 1.) This is not a new system. It is simply an upgrade. They've done stuff like this before (GBA SP, DSi, etc.). 2.) You are currently missing out on ONE game...that isn't even new...that you can play on the Wii. 3.) If you really feel like you need to play this ONE game, go buy a New 3DS (which doesn't come out for awhile anyway) and sell your old 3DS. 4.) This is the most important point. XENOBLADE WOULD NEVER HAVE COME TO THE 3DS ANYWAY! THE ORIGINAL 3DS DOES NOT HAVE ENOUGH POWER TO PLAY IT!!!

I've had a 3DS for a long ass time, just saying. This really is a non-issue, so please stop bitching.

"Satoru Iwata also mentioned that several other titles are in development exclusively for the New Nintendo 3DS. These will not be playable on the old 3DS models."

So Nintendo gets a free pass after years of yelling at third parties to make the necessary downgrades so that PS360 games fit the Wii. Yeah. A non-issue.

I really don't think they will make any new games exclusive to the system. Only ports.

Still I get you, its completely unnessary. Any game which is running on the new 3DS could run on the old one easily. I don't have the specs but from the footage alone it looks like a gamecube/wii size difference, not huge at all.

Where did they say that and in what context? Again, "not powerful enough" could mean something very different from "not powerful enough to run at all in any circumstance." There are fiscal considerations in addition to technical considerations.

I would suspect something like Mario Galaxy 3D is on its way.

3rd parties wanted to develop for the Wii. It was the hottest selling console last gen. And I'll wait to see what those games are. If they are anything like Xenoblade's situation (a port that wouldn't have been able to run on the original 3DS anyway), then I'll have no problem.

I don't get how people can get it wrong with all the info right in front of them 0_o

    R.I.P Mr Iwata :'(

Neither is the new 3DS. Go look at the trailer and you'll see that even this version has been downgraded from the original. Its called optimising for a platform,Ninetndo could make a few more concessions and get it running the normal 3DS without doubt.

If the new system can run Xenoblade, it could also run Mario Galaxy. But the display resolution is still too low, so all games look ugly even compared to cheapest smartphones.
