Forums - Nintendo - Do you think it is a good idea for Nintendo to put out a new 3DS so soon?

Iwata said that Xenoblade won't be the only New 3DS exclusive game. There are more in development...

So, either wait an entire generation and buy the definitive version of their handheld or get in early and guarantee have to buy the same system twice?  Lame.

Exactly. But seems like it's an okay thing to do and we shouldn't be complaining, because y'know, it's Nintendo.

Just because you have an opinion doesn't mean you are necessarily right.

Gameboy Advance. Why is everyone forgetting that? This has literally already been done years ago and the GBC and GBA still existed fine, the world didn't explode, and it wasn't regarded as a new system completely.

No, it's the time for a new model, but not the time for a new handhled! The huge mistake is to make New 3DS-only games : people won't pay 170€ for slightly improved graphics or Wii straight ports.

I'm not sure about that. People paid $400 for slightly improved graphics or PS3 straight ports.

It's a new console which will have every PS4 exclusive <_<. Not the same.

OT: Bad idea, hurts their brand image, fragments their userbase. They should have waited longer (or just not made it at all and announce the next handheld in 3 years)

(and not only a few exclusives like the DSi had

How do you know that? There is only 1 game that is exclusive until now.

For all we know Nintendo won't ignore a 40M userbase, unless they really can't put the game there .

Don't get me wrong, I would have been pissed as hell if Sony announced that Uncharted 4 and TLOU 2 will only be playable on PS4 Slim...

...but in almost 7 years of following gaming news and forums, this is the very first time I see Nintendo fans pissed at Nintendo. (I support their rage)

Until now, I found N. fanbase the most monolythic group, supporting their company through many bad decisions (especially in the past 2-3 years), sometimes even without any reason.

Could this be the straw that broke Iwata's back?
I wonder:
a) How many people will get upset, and how long they will remain upset?
b) Will the fanbase be more willing to question N's moves in the future?

I'm just glad the CPP will finally get more support because of this.

They should have done it a few months ago when sales started to slow.
