I own a PS3.
Yes, even though I only play games on Nintendo systems, I own a PS3. We only have 2 games for it, if that. We have Resistance: Fall of Man (which I think was bundled), and some singing game that my sister played. I never respected it as a gaming console. So what happened?
The war happened. The format war, that is. Toshiba was pushing HD-DVD while Sony was pushing Blu-Ray. In part because of this, Sony made their then new PlayStation 3 both use Blu-Rays for games, and was a Blu-Ray player. This led to a strange phenomena. Due to Sony's business practice of selling their consoles at a loss in order to expand the install base and make more money in the long run off of games, the PlayStation 3 was for a time less expensive than Blu-Ray players. So we bought one. Our system was seller, of all things, was The Dark Knight.
Although the really sad part is not that we almost never played games on it, it's that we almost never watched movies on it. I believe that The Dark Knight was the only movie we watched on it. Although we did watch it about 3 times, because it is awesome.
So that's my story and my confession.
Edit: I need to clarify something. I do not consider this a confession because I am a Nintendo fan. It has nothing to do with that. I consider this a confession because we bought what is now considered an amazing gaming console, but never used it as such. It's not that I never bought games for it because it was not my preferred platform, I never bought games for it because I never took the time out of my day to look for games that might interest me. This has absolutely nothing to do with console wars or fanboyism. This thread was meant to make fun of the fact that we wasted so much money. Ha.
