Gaming is dead to me when something like this happens.

Exactly. Fools and their money will soon part ways. These people who support this stuff are going to regret it when they can no longer own a game and it's all subscription rentals.

I want to own the game not to own the right to use it i think a lot of people think like me gamers should have the choice between get the game physically or digital or with cloud.

PS4 - over 100 millions let's say 120m
Xbox One - 70m
Wii U - 25m

Vita - 15m if it will not get Final Fantasy Kingdoms Heart and Monster Hunter 20m otherwise
3DS - 80m

On the flipside, maybe a subscription service will actually broaden the market for games, rather than basically the same 12 IP selling over and over again (COD, Madden, GTA, Mario, Pokemon, etc.).

Netflix is successful even though a lot of people said it would never work without New Release movies (the bread and butter of Blockbuster's rental business). But people liked the convienance of it and gradually started watching different types of movies and especially TV shows that they probably wouldn't have been exposed to otherwise.

I barely play games as it is. I only collect them.

And when there is nothing to have I will stop completely.

you have no idea how many wii u games I have that I have never even played not a single time

That's a waste of money. Why would you buy games you don't intend to play? And collecting games has nothing to do with playing them. Plenty of collectors play games digitally, and they won't stop playing when that's the only option. There are still millions of past games to collect. The loss of phisical media has no impact whatsoever on the game playing habits of someone who collects them.

I don't support digital games at all.

If physical games dissapear then I will not support any "system" or company that does it.

I know for a fact im not alone on this.

You will be when physical games media dies. No ones going to stop them selves from playing Uncharted 6 because "there's no physical copy" but hipsters.

For some people like me, playing the game is only 1/3rd of the enjoyment. There is the tactical experience of owning it and the collectable aspect of it as well. Both of those will be lost when/if it's all digital.

I recently bought a used SNES again off Ebay and some games to go with it. Some of them I own on the virtual console. Do you know how much more enjoyment I'm getting out of actually playing these games on a real console, with a real SNES controller via an old CRT TV? It's night and day.

People like me, they are small in number, but they're out there. If it ALL goes digital or streaming, most of us will just find something else to do with our time. Either that or build retro collections like I'm doing. Those old games will never get boring imo.

Nishino-san mentioned that they’re “working in anticipation of a future where gaming consoles could disappear,” explaining that mobile gaming has created a fierce competitive environment for consoles, and the evolution of cloud gaming has made them somewhat unnecessary.

“Sony Computer Entertainment’s business is not selling gaming consoles, but its essence is to sell video game content, which makes the decision to deliver said content through the cloud important.”

So Sony is preparing for a PSNow service for future tablets and smartphone devices? I hope gaming controllers will be made for smart devices in the future then. Otherwise gaming consoles will stay or be destroyed by mobile/tablet gaming that can't sell controller add-ons.

If gaming consoles disappear it's because they want them to disappear.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

95% of people will not even care as long as the price is right, which is the one thing I fully expect from the digital future: lower prices for new games.

There are controllers for tablets already and things like a Dual Shock can already be made to function with a tablet anyway. It's just a Bluetooth signal, nothing special.

That's reassuring. I'm worried about how much a future iPad or Galaxy Tablet blank-point-O would cost to run future PS6 or other games, though.
