Forums - Sony - PS4 Glitch makes console practically useless.

I wonder why this wasn't reported as a DRM issue, which it obviously was. Would've generated a lot more buzz too.

wasnt a drm issue, it was a database corruption issue, it was truncating license database files and causing the entire database to be offset, invalidating them.

so even stuff that is free, but still uses a license file to validate its authenticty, was not working if your database got corrupted.

Sad for those who have experienced the glitch. But I will never digitally pre-order a game so I am pretty guaranteed to be immune from this glitch.

Maybe because it wasn't a DRM issue    ?

It have come and gone... And Vivster failed on his joke, unless it was a jab at Sony, if so he failed miserably.

meh physical only for me so never had issues.

Digital buyers get so much more than those second class citizens that still buy physical copies right? They even get exclusive bugs. Man its hard to be a physical-copy-buyer. :)

Swift response, glad that its already resolved

Kotaku has such shoddy journalism practices. Their title makes it sound like there is a bug hat is breaking PS4 consoles and rendering a vast amount useless.

I think it was a pretty rare glitch that just rendered some features useless on PS4? I'm not saying Kotaku shouldn't have reported the issue though. It's good to inform people of potential failures. But they just seem to try and fantasize the title a bit. Probably for more ad-revenue clicks

Guessing some people are still hoping/grasping at straws hoping to put DRM back in the spotlight...this time on Sony..

Sony described it as an "account issue". So it might as well been an issue where the support that deleted the preorder set a flag(because of a bug) that marked the account in a way that the games did not allow to be played by that specific account.

And we all know that the games not only check themselves but also if the account is allowed to play them.

Of course it also could've been a corrupted database.
