Those "What if company X made a console" threads are even more useless than the top 10 ones.

Of course EA hates money so much that they look at the other manufacturers burning money by building consoles that they can only recoup by selling hundreds of millions of games and says to itself: "I want in on that shit!"

It wouldn't sell anything because after its release EA will go bankrupt.

It would probably have a better chance of success than a Nintendo console, but yes it would flop pretty bad as well.

EA realise dedicated hardware is going the way of the dinosaurs though and are going all in on their digital services.

So, if I would have asked the question "what if Sony made a console?" in the early 90´s, it would be a useless question? Or "what if MS made a console?" in the early 00´s?

With companies as large as EA, those hypothecial questions can always be raised. Hell, even Valve are trying at it. I agree with those saying they would risk their FIFA and MADDEN licences but also remember, they kept those games of the Dreamcast and managed to survive.

We are gamers, and gamers should be allowed to use their imagination. You should try it :).

These aren't the 90s or 00s. There are more than enough gaming platforms. Even the main gaming platforms are struggling by the departure of casuals to mobile.

EA is large but they are starving for money. You can see that by their ever innovative ways to generate more of it. Even if they had the money they wouldn't deem it profitable enough.

And now think about the developers who're not even willing anymore to develop for 3 platforms, let alone more.

Then there's the thing that it's EA. The console will get so much flak even before it's released. You think MS's bad press for X1 hurt them? Wait until the most hated company in gaming tries anything.

Make believe is fine and all but not even my imagination can picture a successful EA console. And with successful I mean to stay on the market for longer than a year.

Voted worst company two years in a row, I would love to see this.

It really depends on how they would handle it

An EA console would be the stuff of nightmares.

They would instantly lose all their sports franchise contracts, and so would in fact have very few successful franchises on which to build a console, and none of the other 3rd party publishers would support it. An EA console would be DOA, IMO.
