Forums - Sony Discussion - Sony Comments On Lack of AAA Titles For PS4: "Perception Issue, 2015 Great For Core Players & More"

I owned the PS2 day 1 because of DVD and PS3 because of blu-ray, the PS4 does not have that. I will get the PS4 when TO:1886 is out.

I'm speaking through the POV of a PC gamer, so yes. It is different for console gamers, but both me and Jizz_Beard play on PC intensively, and I was speaking from our perspective.

And yeah, I found Infamous mediocre. A pretty game, but nothing new really, and not a step up from the other games in the franchise.

Isn't it obvious that PC gamers have much less of a reason to buy a new console? But you and Jizz make it sound like that is due to a shortcoming in the console itself but it's not really. It's just a matter of your preference.

Speaking for myself as a non-PC gamer, I spent ten years on 360 and was WELL overdue for some new hardware. Even if I play a game like Battlefield 4 that exists in both older consoles, new consoles and PC it doesn't matter because for me the PS4 version is an upgrade over 360 and the PC version is irrelevant because I don't play on PC. But I wouldn't turn around and say PC has no games because I don't play them or they also exist on other platforms.

The biggest point is that the self-entitled (you know who you are) need to calm down and look at what is being offered. If you EVER owned a console during the first year after launch, then you know that the PS4's library, for this point in time after release, is EXCELLENT compared to previous gen consoles!

If you REALLY feel that "there are no games" and are THAT limited in your scope of what qualifies as a "good" game, sell your consoles and quit gaming. Personally, I am tired of all the whining.

If people really did stop being like that, things would be so peaceful.

You're breaking rule number 1. If any game on the list is playable on any other platform in any shape or form, it is immediately rendered unplayable on your PS4. Like your PS4 will literally show a pop up saying, I'm sorry, this game can be played on other platforms, please remove this disc and try again. For realz.

This actually happens.

I think you missed my point. Yes PS4 had watchdogs but this was a list by most recent big releases and PS4 had TLOU a couple weeks ago so that's newer than watchdogs. The "PS4 is the one lacking big games" was sarcasm.

Technically, The Last of Us isn't newer.

The people bitching about PS4 having no games have already played games like The Last of Us, Tomb Raider, Injustice, Diablo 3, Metro, many of the indie games, etc, etc, long before the PS4s release or before they were released on the PS4.

Just because someone may not have played it on when it was first released doesn't give it a free pass because there are many people who have played it and want something new.  Right now there are way too many games that are being ported over, too many indie games that we could have already played if we wanted to being ported over, and very few actual new games that we can play.

He said it. So many high profile AAA games in the first year. More than in any other generation. And it's getting even more in the second year.

Everyone pretending that this is a bad launch year has a very bad or very selective memory.

Also, people are right. There is a drought of big titles on PS4.

If there is a drought of big titles on PS4, there is a drought of big titles on all platforms cause i don't see anyone doing better.

Anyway he's right about the perception part, and by perception he means stupidity. Just like how some people are stupid in associating PS TV with "TV".

Agreed about other platforms. Doesn't change it from being true regarding PS4 though.

The perception is a result of their own poor planning, just like the negative perception of Xbone is entirely MS's fault.

Being a PS customer from the PS1. I'm inclined to agree that there's a lack of AAA titles. It's actually been worse in the past but unnoticed due to backwards compatibility which the ps4 lacks unfortunately. My only ps4 game since launch is KZ:SF. I do understand that things will take a turn for the better starting this fall. However, the first year of the ps4 was definitely lacking IMO

Still think you'd enjoy Child of Light and Transistor. Give indies a chance pristine!

I don't think Child of Light is a indie game but I may be wrong.

I know it isn't. Pristine just doesn't like indie titles.

Oh right. Yeah Pristine, some indie games are really good. Just as a fun as some of the best AAA games.

PC gamers have just as big a reason to own consoles. Some awesome games like JRPGs and other exclusives never make their way to PC, and so a lot of PC gamers end up buying a console. I'd be willing to say that at least 50% or more of PC gamers also ended up owning one console or another last generation.

And where did I say consoles have no games? Now you're just twisting my words. I said that a PC gamer buys consoles for the quality AAA exclusives, which all the consoles other than perhaps the Wii U currently lack. That is sure to change once games like Bloodborne, Uncharted 4, Master Chief Collection, and Sunset Overdrive come out.
