Shipments were about 10,5mi vs 7mi last quarter.

PS4 lead in the USA, thanks to NPD leak, is less than 1mi, Japan is about 700k PS4s, so more than 2,5mi diference comes from "untrakable" (or unverifiable) EU and rest of the world sales.

I don´t think there would be a reason for VGChartz undertrak solely the PS4 and be spot on the Xbox One.

And let´s say the XOne has a 20% sales drop this hollydays, and sells 4mi from octuber to december.

Do you realy think the PS4 will sell 12mi in 3 months and start open a 3:1 gap?

On Apr 17 MS announced that the XB1 had shipped 5 million, and for the quarter of Apr-Jun MS shipped 1.1 million 360's and XB1's combined, so the absolute maximum that the XB1 could be is 6.1 million as of the 30 Jun 14, and more likely 5.5-5.6 million.  So no, they aren't at 7 million, not anywhere near.

Having said all that, I can't see PS4 achieving a 3:1 ratio this gen, MS will not let that happen even if it costs them.

While it would be nice to see such a curb stomping (heaven knows micro deserves it) 3:1 will be hard, and besides, the unthinkable and unlikable, 2:1 is more than enough :)

Thanks jlmurph!

Have you even checked the shipment numbers? MS announced 5 million XBOs shipped as of April 1st, and in the last quarterly report  22nd july they said that 360 and XBO shipments combined were at about 1,1 million for that quarter (21 April to 21st July). Now factor in the 40 extra days that aren't counted this means the possible (and not at all likely) total shipped numbers for the XBO is  ~6,4 million, while it's most likely ~6,0 million (I'm assuming that at least 400k of the 1,1million combined is 360s). No matter what your 7,5 million shipped for the XBO is completely wrong.

Oups, I gave one extra 1mi for quarter 1.

Was it 5m + ~900k for XOne and 7,5m + ~2,5m for PS4.

I thought it was 6mi and 8mi respectively, Sony still claimed they had supply issues back in April.

As I already corect, I was thinking it was 6mi quarter 1.

But it´s realy hard to belive that the 360 would ship almost twice the XOne and drop only 20% YoY.

Sometime in 2018 is my guess. 2015 will be "halo year", 2016 "gears year", so the gap will not keep increasing at the current pace...but after that I can see the ps4 triple the xbox one's sales.

Sure the x1 will sell great the month halo comes out and also when Tomb raider comes out and quantom brake. but thats only 3 games anounce for next year that are worth it and 2 of thouse are at the end of the year, the ps4 will destroy the x1 starting from january(Actually it has been destroying it for a while).

And 2016 we have crack down and gears 4. Same thing, wont even be a contest.

It will cost them to much I think. Wich in turn be worst cuz they won have anothen gen if the price to stay alive is to high.

The 360 ship twice the X1 and only down 20% YoY? I said that I assume the 360 shipped 400k which means the X1 shipped 700k. You must have mixed the two and thought I said that I assume the X1 had only shipped 400k.

what will happen if Nintendo launches a new console 2016? MS will surely follow leaving behind the x1, would sony follow suit as well?

2 years ahead, solid sales and 20~30 millions lead, powerfull enough... They could enjoy a "playstation 2 situation" by not following. But I'm not even sure Nintendo would launch on 2016, let alone MS (Nintendo could launch a new console with a new accessory on par with current gen, what would launch MS ?). It's time to build profits, not to replay everything with a costly launch and preparation.

Ok, I think it was closer to 300k-250k a 65% drop as we saw with WiiU and the PS4 (if we sum shipment bundled for PS3 and PS4 basicaly 80% of those are PS4 if we are to reach 6mi shiped/sold this year).

I think it´s wierd the 360 would hold that well against so much competition from 4 other consoles.

But I might be wrong... again.
