Forums - Sony - The world of Wild is the size of Europe

http://blog.us.playstation.com/2014/08/12/introducing-ps4-exclusive-wild/#sf4121588

When we started working on WiLD we wanted to make sure that we would have fun playing our own game even after months and months of development! This is the reason why the world of WiLD is the size of Europe, with dynamic weather and seasons, and filled with interactive opportunities that feel endless.

Wait what?

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!

I assume this is done with procedural generation of some kind? In which case "the size of Europe" is simply a reference to their upper generation limit.

If not, this seems kinda overkill :p

The game already seems too ambitious to deliver. By an indies studio no less.

But then there is No Man's Sky.

This is also interesting though:

Every time you play you’ll discover new things, even in the same place as before. But… the best feature came from our prototyping phase when we started playing as wolves, horses, sheep and… even trout! So we decided that in WiLD every creature should be playable, even the giant and dangerous ones!

All these features combined, open so many new gameplay situations, especially when playing online. How you approach the game is up to you, what you do and even what you are – it’s all up to you.

Given the huge potential world size, it would be incredible if they could implement an MMO style online mode. That would be some next level shit right there.

I hope it is as diverse as Europe. I want fjords!

It would also be incredible if they could keep offline and online modes as separated as possible.

Now THIS is a big game.

When I saw it I thought: Minecraft with good graphics.
It is big, has no real goal, just survival. I hope you will be able to dig in the ground.

It almost sounds too good to be true, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't want to see more.

minecraft is the size of Jupiter so in comparison Europe is really small
