Forums - Sony - Share Play is Sony's take on Microsoft's original Xbox One dream

lol what? Sony announced Share Play way before the XBO was even announced. This feature has nothing to do with M$. I'm super excited for it. It also lets other people take control of your second controller, so if games are ever local co-op only they can be played as online co-op

Far Cry 4 has already been advertised as such, but with limitations in place. I wonder if the feature will be limited on other games, or, hypothetically, you load the game and a friend plays the whole thing, thus avoiding the purchase.

We shall see about that I guess. The co-op thing only works if its a game that has local co-op though.

i'm not sure if i would qualify shareplay the same as the mythical family share plan.

A) shareplay is real and the family share plan was only barely detailed after the DRM plan was cannned so we'll never no what family share really would have been.

B) share play requires my to be at my ps4 in order for the game to be shared to a friend while the family share plan supposedly allowed me to play other peoples games even when they weren't there.

...but i guess in a way they are similar.   xbox's DRM is an always online internet connection.  playstation's DRM is a person present while playing.   sony's is the more sensible choice.

It's is a really great feature to PS+ if they can pull it off smoothly. Looking forward to more details to come.

I'd prefer being able to play with them next to me, bit so many games seem to want us to be apart and play online. At least with this we both don't have to shell out money on the same game to play together. Not perfect, but better than where we were heading.

Does no one remember that this feature has been talked about and in the works for quite a while now?

Before the PS3 everyone was nice to me :(

I don't think this is even close to what MS had in mind. We're talking about streaming a game through the internet while being connected to them while they watch you play for them. Also this doesn't seem to be limited to a number of PSN friends.

Wasn't the MS plan just about sharing games between family members where only one person had to buy the game?

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

Gahhh when I heard of the feature I was super stoked for it, now with all these what ifs or how its going to work out, free pay etc now has me all saddened for getting over hyped without the details lol

9.99 a month? Isn't PS+ like 50 for a whole year... someone needs to retake Math101

On topic: Super excited to hear more about this feature.

i dont think its complicated, the groundwork is already in place for it. Back at the PS4 reveal sony talked baout this feature, about you you being able to let your friends come in and play your game for you. This is just shedding more light on it.

I guess it will work like some sort of live feed hybrid where your friend is watching your feed but his controller inputs also affect the game. As funny as this may sound, if they allow your friends basically play any game you have off your console while you are the stream host that would actually be the PS4s biggest ever killer app.

This is me saying you should go back to being hyped.

It's the ability to play the same game with your friend while they are playing. Has little to do with family sharing.

Anyway, I was hyped when they announced it last year and remain pretty hyped for it!
