I was looking at a recent Matt Peckham posting ... The Feb. 22 piece in which he argues against Reggie Fils-Aime's prediction that the Wii will pass the Xbox 360 in the US by June.
I agree that the goal is ambitious. I do not agree Peckham's assertations that the Wii is going to become a paperweight to casual gamers or is the next fondue set. (He also says that Microsoft dominates the Top 50 sales chart and predicts big sales for all the hyped games and says Wii has nothing after Brawl).
That Peckham is anti-Wii isn't new. What is is that his data appears to be VGChartz data.
The U.S. difference between Microsoft and Nintendo stands at roughly 10.9 and 9.4 million units respectively, or about 1.5 million units.
The Feb. 16 chart tally had Xbox at 10,918,452 and Wii at 9,363,100 -- or 10.9 and 9.4.
(He also said Wii Sports and Wii Play may have more overall sales, but Microsoft effectively owns the rest of the top 50 chart). The Feb. 16 weekly chart had showed that the X360 sold about 1.1M to Wii's 692K software. The X360 had 17 games in the top 50 while the Wii had 11. And remember, this was the week the Wii is credited with less than 50K sales and was outsold by the X360 because there was NO hardware stock).
