Forums - Gaming - Mario Kart hardware VS Titnfall hardware first 3 week

If I'm not mistaken, Titanfall had, essentially, a 0 effect on the XBone. VGC may have shown the XBone had boosted sales, but NPD showed that it's average weekly sales were lower than the prior month (64.5K per week in February vs 62.2K per week in March; Feb was 4 weeks, March was 5). VGC numbers were certifiably wrong for XBone hardware sales during Titanfall's release.

On the other hand, they've been pretty spot on with the WiiU, Mario Kart 8 or otherwise.

Moral of the story: MK8 boosted hardware more and, judging by the WiiUs current baseline, helped sustain sales better than Titanfall

But, then again, MK is a extremely popular franchise, so it should be expected vs. a new, pretty much online only IP

Titanfall Xbox One had inFamous PS4 to cut off hardware sales early. Mario Kart was the only thing big until TLOUR came out. Also, Titanfall is a new IP while MK8 is the Wii U's biggest established exclusive for 2014..

Uhm, I'm pretty sure Watch Dogs released after/at the same time as Mario Kart 8, which was considerably bigger than inFAMOUS

I thought it came out before Mario Kart. Maybe same week but still before it.

I think it is fairer to judge this based off of the baseline before those games released as well. Numbers aren't always directly comparable because the console's baselines were different in the first place. I also think it would give a clearer picture if you'd take more weeks as a comparison, just three which are similar anyway doesn't paint a good enough picture to draw conclusions.

Looks like they both did pretty well as system sellers, though probably not as well as either MS or Nintendo hoped.

Maybe Titanfall but MK8 turned the Wii U 90 degrees. MK8 raised the Wii U baseline by 66 percent. The other 90 degrees is saved for SSB4 and co.

Doesn't matter that much because it still sold several millions after its first days (which is more than infamous did)

i think there is no doubt that MK is a much bigger system seller than TF. however, MK is an established IP with a very strong fanbase and it is actually exclusive.

Pretty much this.

Not the best to compare a new IP with a Multiplayer only game to an existing megaton IP. Also install base should be taken into consideration as well.

Pezus what are you talking about?

My point wasnt how much infamous sold, its the fact that it came out the week after Titanfall to cut its sales down.
