I've played both and prefer 3D world. However my 5 year old finished Knack with me and wanted to play it again, he doesn't want to finish 3D world with me. The difference, in Knack I can help him stay alive, in 3D world he keeps dying in the later levels.
He greatly prefers Lego games over either, even Toy story 3 toy box mode over anything Mario.

I can barely stay alive during knack with how cheap it is, I can't imagine having to help someone else stay alive too... Although I guess you could use them as bait

It's easy in co-op, as long as Knack doesn't die you're ok. As the helper you can screw up as much as you want, you simply respawn. All you have to do is draw attention away from Knack, I am the bait. I can't help my 5 year old in 3D world not fall in pits or get killed by environmental hazards.

I bet you just don't like Super Mario 3D World isn't like other 3D Mario games, which is kind of sad because I think the game is underrated. It's just too limited compared to its big brothers like Super Mario Galaxy and 64.

My bet with The_Liquid_Laser: I think the Switch won't surpass the PS2 as the best selling system of all time. If it does, I'll play a game of a list that The_Liquid_Laser will provide, I will have to play it for 50 hours or complete it, whatever comes first.

Knack is completely and utterly boring. Mario, even being around for 30 years, is still fun and exciting.

I make videos that are sometimes funny I think?

Check out my Youtube gaming channel here!

Knack is a bad game, It's a terrible brawler/platformer.
To sum up my feelings, to quote ERB
"I'll put a slug between yonder shoulder blades, and then ask what light yonder poser brakes"

Knack is a better game than Super Mario 3D World. It is much better looking, the effects of Knack sucking up relics and changing is much more than is ever shown in 3D World. It is a great game for kids, they love playing Knack, it is a great colourful world with characters that actually have personalities and interact with eachother. What about adults? Knack can be a true challenge! On hard difficulty it truly is hard and unlike so many of todays games there aren't that many checkpoints, it harkens back to the days of old when you had to actually be good to beat a game. Can't beat a bit of it? Keep trying and practicing and then when you do you can savour that glorious taste of victory. So what of 3D World? Sure it is colourful, but what story or character interaction is there? What of a challenge? Nope, no challenge at all, fail enough times and you'll be given invincibility to help you out. Great lesson right there, keep failing and someone will come along and pretty much do it for you...

So there you have it folks, Knack > Super Mario 3D World
And it would appear the fine folks of the UK agree....

Knack:

UK Annual Summary (Units)

YearYearlyChangeTotal
2013 71,536 N/A 71,536

3D World:

UK Annual Summary (Units)

YearYearlyChangeTotal
2013 66,296 N/A 66,296

I don't see the point of this thread? No sane person would ever say Knack even comes close to the SM3DW!

I don't think any reviewer anywhere rated Knack better than SM3DW!

Sure 3D World might be more limited compared to 64 and Galaxy, but it's still a very good game with creative level design, colorful visuals and an amazing soundtrack! Let's not mention that 3D World is a BLAST with your friends!

This thread has convinced me to think seriously about getting Knack. Unfortunately unless Sony breaks its own rule of only putting 70+ meta games on free PSN+ it will not come to PSN+. Which means I will have to buy the game. But with only 6 months of PSN+ behind me I have so many games to get through i can't see myself actually buying any games other than the ones about which I am uber-hyped, like The Order, UC4, Dragon Age. So I may never get to play Knack unless I see it for $10 somewhere and I happen to have $10 in my wallet I don't know what to do with.

I really think it will come to + one day. I'm sure Sony have already put games with a lower meta on already, as well as the brand new games like Resogun and kind of Driveclub where they didn't even know what the meta would be when they put them on.

But yeah it is definitely worth a try, maybe not at full price unless you are really into platformers but if it is on offer and cheap it is a really fun game

Oh I like a good platformer. So, how does it compare to the best of Ratchet and Clank and Jak and Daxter The Precursor Legacy?

It doesnt come close to the worst game in those series and I can enjoy some pretty average platformers. Granted I only got half way through knack and I do have to get around to finishing it. But if a platformer can't keep me going, that probably says enough.
