Forums - Gaming Discussion - Weekly XB1 overtaking Wii U thread: WIll it happen this year?

Who will be on top when January 1, 2015 arrives?

Wii U 810 89.40%

Xbox One 93 10.26%

Total:903

I think the people that doubt the possibility of WiiU staying ahead this year severely underestimate the child market. School is starting soon. Kids will be talking about how awesome mario kart is, they will be talking about smash and new zelda and they will be talking about and even probably trading those new figure things. Now I'm not talking about teenagers, I'm talking about the younger kids that are a very large part of the market that have parents who won't buy them next gen due to cost/mature nature of the games. Kids are going to talking about everything that was shown at Nintendo's E3 and when they talk with each other at school and play games with each other after school the kids that don't have it are going to be begging their parents to get it.

I strongly believe that will keep them ahead this year. Especially since most games are getting pushed back until next year or getting ported to PC.

Watttt??? I kno X1>WiiU lifetime and by a good amount, but wtf..... Miles ahead of WiiU by end of the year? Either your over exaggerating or Crazy.

WiiU by the end of the year will be anywhere between 9mil-11mil Sold. (Depends if SSB is here to stay and how much it'll push)

By saying miles ahead of WiiU by years end, your practically sayiing its 100% going to surpass it no questions ask and it'll beat it by millions. So wat 14-16mil by years end? Your expecting at least 9mil-10mil being sold With 5 months left of the year??? O.o

MK released in May? When does school break up in America? 0_o

The reasoning is always so flimsy as to how and why WiiU is going to achieve great sales.

Dont even bother to try to teach eva01beserk facts, he is just one of those people who thinks captian toad will sell better than destiny because its on his favorite platform. Waste of time!

TOASTBOY!!!!! I missed you. You know, I started this account just so I could talk with you. Also thedrill. You are both just hilarious.

But dont worry I have no expectations for captain toad. My coment has more to do with thhe type of arrogance that thinks that halo:mcc alone will double the x1 installbase in a month and that the 5 exclusives for the wii u combine will give it less than a millinon in sales. Games that are unique in that genre in the new gen, so even if there are niche titles with litle fanbases they will still have to get the wii u cuz there is nothing else.

I do expect the multyplats to sell some x1, and the new territories to increase baseline for the x1. But in all not that much of an increase since all thouse territories are sonyland extencions. But I could be wrong and I might be and the x1 could sore throught the sky. I can admit I can be wrong and there is a small chance even if trends say otherwise, so why cant either of you?

But people like you and seece, who after witnesing titanfall fail, and the $400 sku fail, and the $75 upgrade bonus fail and the baseline is still on the floor and still belive the x1 will dominate all and belitle anything  else have to be the worst kind of people.

But at least people like you have abandoned hope and are now focused on at least we will beat nintendo, wich for the past 3 months you can see that is another pipe dream, but you wont admit it untill its to late.

do you actually believe Wii U will beat Xbox One? LOL Xbox One will be miles ahead of Wii U by the end of the year just watch

I belive theres is 50/50 chance to both that can have 2nd place. I belive theres 100% chance that by the end of the year the wii u will stay ahead. Theres a 70/30 chance the wii u will stay ahead next year as well.

Reasons are, well Ive said this to you before. The wii u will be the secondary console of choice  either ps4/x1 owners will have this console. The ps4 makes the x1 obsolete so it will be like 4:1 at the end of the gen and the wii u will probably end up being own by half of that total. It was reported that last gen where 80% total wii owneres had another console. Wich I take it to be that even thou wii won last gen it was due to being the secondary console. This time they will not win cuz of it, but they will win second place since it will do at least 50% total market share, while sony might come up as 80% compared to x1, leaving x1 as 20%. Even if the ps4/x1 ration might be and probably will be wrong, I still belive the wii u ratio to be around 50%.

And the reasoning for the x1 dominance is always so strong. Like price parity, ps4 has no games, only 13 markets, wii u out a year ahead, mk8 is the bigest game of all time, Halo is the bigest game of all time. To me it all sounds like hopes and dreams.

Simple fact is XB1 has an audience to appeal too, despite being $200 higher than WiiU and launching against the mammoth that is PS4, it's still done significantly better than WiiU in the same period. What do you think price parity in the holidays will do for it? It's not going to beat PS4, nobody thinks that, but if it could sustain last holiday and the start of this year it'll find its audience this holiday as well.

We've already seen how WiiU performs during the holidays and both were pretty poor.

Are you refering to last holliday where it was up against 2 new consoles that were hyped as hell with allt the comparisons and shit? And still the wii u sold 1.6m during the hollidays. Now that all that ps4/x1 launch is done and after having the best E3, this holliday will double sales to at least 3m especially with all the games out and coming out. And as seen by the sales, the wii u has already gained interest since E3, while the x1 has lost a lot of it. Even if the x1 sustains last hollidays numbers it will still be behind the wii u.

Best E3 is A) opinion and B) worthless when it comes to actual sales, you know what does sell consoles? Games. You wanna know which console has significantly more games coming for it? Xbox One. And yes they count, they sell well on Xbox One showing they're pushing system sales.

What was the excuse for the first holiday when WiiU was up against the ageing PS360? Sales barely hit 2m sell through.

Xbox has lost interest since E3? It did 197k in June NPD (no idea what it has done in Europe, no solid numbers available).

I love how fans are even disagreeing with Nintendo now, they finally relent and give a realistic forecast and you all think think they're underpredicting just because, you want to believe that.

Let me try an experiment, Ill say something bad about nintendo and you try your hardest to say something bad about MS, Ill even help.

The Wii U is way overprice, wich is why I think its doing the worst since launch. $300 is far to much for a console that can only play nintendo games and the ocasional third party crap that was rejected by the ps4/x1. If it was at least $250, people can start seeing it as the secondary console. But all the games coming you have to admit than in comparison to last year wich had 2 games, it will do better, and no hype from the ps4/x1 launch.

The X1 is fighting a loosing battle with the ps4. You might not think it matters against the wii u but the audience that the x1 is targeting is the same as the ps4, so the better the ps4 does, the worst the x1 will do. This time it is unlikely that to all thouse third party games, people go and choose the x1 for them. If they want the x1 exclusives then they wont mind and get both on the x1, so in the end only people interested in the x1 exclusives will get the x1. If it was cheaper than the ps4 thas another story, but at parity? no way.
