Project Spark doesn't stand out to you? What makes you say Destiny doesn't stand out? It's a unique mmo-fps-rpg. Not every year can be great, But it sure ain't terrible.

This is the part where what you say doesn't stand up though. In looking briefly at wikipedia (not the best source, but based on your taste I figure it might work out here) there are around 250 games that were released across all platforms (handhelds, PC, xbox, playstation, nintendo, etc) in 2007. In 2014, PS4 is releasing over 100 games alone. Between the other game systems, and the PC, that tells me that there are going to be more potentially worthwhile purchases now than there were back then. Also, with the indie scene (which you seem to instantly discredit as shovelware), you are getting many more unique experiences - if you are willing to try them - than you were back in 2007. |
yeah youre right about the indie scene, and if you didnt mention it at the end of your post here, i was going to. the lineup for 2014 is beefed up tremendously by indie games. i know a lot of them are great, i was going to download shovel knight pretty soon. indie games shouldnt be discounted as shovelware, but when you look at big retail releases, i feel like these huge companies are just not doing much of anything.

maybe im missing something but what is so great about project spark? it seems just so.. average. i mean, im not saying its horrible if somebody likes that kind of game but i dont see any progression there. im a bit biased against destiny as i think online only games are the wrong way to go. ive watched some of the beta, and it doesnt appeal to me, but that obviously doesnt mean its a bad game.. im being too hard on destiny. i called titanfall a standout game because it advances the shooter genre in significant ways. i know i just knocked online only games, but at least titanfall actually changed gameplay mechanics. these are the kinds of things im looking for. i feel like we got to a point where we perfected new gameplay mechanics of the past, and now there needs to be innovation of somekind that actually advances the way we play games. im really giving titanfall too much credit here anyway. none of these games really have advanced gaming too much whereas assassins creed, cod 4, mass effect, metroid prime 3, bioshock.. all those games HAVE. (unfortunately metroid prime 3 was one of a kind. it should have advanced gaming; it was perfect, but no shooter on the wii even came close to comparing the tight control scheme that was in that game)
You just have to be patient, that's all. games take time to come out. If nothing is to your liking, then I guess your just out of luck.
ps4 will have the best games next year. this year was not good.

August Metrico (Vita) - August 5
September Dance Central Spotlight (Xbox One) - September 2
October Super Smash Bros. (3DS) - October 3
November Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare (Xbox One, 360, PS4, PS3, PC) - November 4
December Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 Remix (PS3) - December 2 |
Some games are missing. Fantasy Life (3DS) for example.

This thread reminds me of the grouchy old man stereotype who complains bitterly about how things aren't as good as they used to be.

Yeah I honestly only remember SimCity, which received a MASSIVE backlash and I believe they removed the requirement (not 100% sure).

yes, go hide to some other corner of this site where you can continue to be out of control and hover over people with your superiority. you clearly are in the right. |
He didn't call me a coward. He was calling the one I was asking a question a coward due to him not answering.
