The sad fact is the XB1 has more appealing exclusives in 2014 yet it's still being outsold. I don't really regret my PS4 purchase because I know the games will come but I'm bummed I can't play Sunset Overdrive and D4.

15 million is a sure thing whilst 16 million is quite likely. 17 is pushing it but hey, they have been setting records so 17 million would not totally surprise me.

Sony expect to sell 17 million PS4 consoles by April 2015. That's the official minimum number that they have to reach.

That's probably 15 before the end of  the year and 18-20 by April 2015

17 million by April 2015 is a god damn shoe in.

It's at like 12m with 3 months remaining. 2 of those are holiday months, I don't expect much in October but November has some big releases and December will be a repeat of that with more sales. I'm guessing 18m+

Those Destiny PS4 numbers really impressed me, have no idea about EU numbers so it's tough to call but I think it was big there too.

Let's see what GTA/COD can do.

Don't know. Still think that 17m is not as easy to achieve as some might think. I even heard people talking about 19 or 20m.

As I had suggested several times this year, 17 million for PS4 is on the optimistic side, but still possible. My last estimates (bringing slight adjustments to the original estimate a year ago) suggests :

XB1

Half2 / Half1 estimate : 8.1 - 9.5 mil
Halves analysis update : 3.58 / 3.49 * (8.1 - 9.5 mil) = 8.3 - 9.7 mil

So we can now confidently say, by the end of 2014

PS4 will sell around 16-17 million
XB1 will sell around 8-9 million
