You didn't say that explicitly say the same question which is why i disagreed.

I hoped he picked you because as I said, I doubt you. I wanted more information to see if he could confirm/deny my suspisicions.

Why would that matter? You didn't seem to have a problem with padib lying about his role. Not to mention you haven't even shared your role.
