FRANXX might be the most convoluted collection of plot devices I've ever seen in my life. I can't take stuff like this as anything more than irony.

I'm happy how it turned out. These days it's always a gamble if it's gonna be Kill La Kill Trigger or Kiznaiver Trigger. I'm glad it's definitely the former in this case. As usual it's full of stupid and bold symbolism. But it's a visual marvel  and even though it's just a stupid Mech anime it still feels kinda unique.

I think I have watched everything now and I have also cut some shit so that I am actually able to watch everything. More drops are possible, but for now it'll look like this:

Citrus - Ramped up the lesbian action up to 11 in the first ep. It might not turn out to be very good but beggars can't be choosers.

Dagashi Kashi 2 - Haven't actually watched the first ep yet but it's Dagashi Kashi. I need to broaden my knowledge of Japanese candy before flying there.

Darling in the FranXX - Mech nonsense in trademark Trigger Style. I am contractually obligated to watch this.

Hakumei to Mikochi - Cute little fairy tale style story with awesome art and interesting editing.

Karakai Jouzu no Takagi-san - I am not a big fan of psychological torture, which is what that little bitch is doing. I hate the premise and I hate that bitch. I might drop it if it gets too uncomfortable.

Killing Bites - Fun to watch and the only fan service anime this season. It feels like those are becoming a rare thing. This anime does not compromise and I love it.

Kokkoku - Very interesting premise and quite good execution. Depending where it goes it could become AOTS.

Mitsubishi Colors - Weak attempt at an Ichigo Mashimaro clone. Still alright and inoffensive.

Nanatsu no Taizai 2 - Obligatory great Shounen this season.

Overlord 2 - While I liked the first season I'm not sure if I will like this one. It was fun watching a completely OP MC but I really don't care about the story or some political intrigues. It could really become very very boring. Potential drop.

Slow Start - Inoffensive moe show. Easy to watch to sleep.

Sora yori mo Tooi Basho - Interesting premise, perfect execution for both story and comedy. No possible way for this to become a surprise drama.

Violet Evergarden - The critic's darling. A drama that ticks all of the boxes with a huge budget to burn. It's already in the Top 50 of MAL. It's so KyoAni it's almost painful. I might have to watch it just to have it in my collection.

Yuru Camp - Actually well done and made interesting. I don't know why but I love their club room. Definitely one of the good "cute girls doing cute things" animes.

As usual, everything not in this list I have already watched and already deemed shit. Like the dreadful Märchen Mädchen and Toji no Miko.

K, so everything my yuri eyes are watching this season.

Citrus. I have been waiting so long for this, the first two episodes adapted the manga quite well while adding some more flavor to some scenes, not perfect but probably as good as I could have hoped for, presentation is pretty good, OP and ED were fantastic, plus the really nice Saburouta art in it. Is nice to see 100% yuri anime with budget, effort and care put into it after that NTR train wreck. Overall it didn’t disappointed me, is one of my favorite manga, so hopefully the rest of the episodes adapts the manga just as well, if so, this is my anime of the year already, with only the Kase-san OVA having a chance to top it.

Hakumei to Mikochi. Pretty cute with a nice style and some folklore, overall surprised.

Mitsuboshi Colors. They got me with the rocket launcher, seems like a pretty good comedy.

Pop Team Epic. :3

A Place Further than the Universe. Gorgeous style, high quality stuff from Madhouse, really enjoyed the characters so far.

Takunomi. Cute girls drinking, MC acting gay af already, is nothing too special, but is quite fun and only 12 minutes long, so that is fine.

Yuru Camp. Cozy and laid back, cute girls camping, great OP, overall besides Yorimoi, the cute girls doing cute things show with the most quality put into it this season.

Takagi-san's laugh makes my heart sing. I can't not smile at this show.

I ended up watching Dagashi Kashi after all. It was okay...not really a fan of the new style, characters don't look as appealing to me as season 1. The snack lessons are still amusing though, and with 12 minute episodes I don't really have a reason not to watch it.

Everything else kept my interest, so I'll likely keep up with everything I started. Yuru Camp is surprisingly fun, I laughed at the MC's text chat with her lazy friend. Also her friend reminds me of me and Mao. Sangatsu is still amazing. Grancrest is...good enough to keep up with. Gives me a Fire Emblem vibe. Citrus seems good, I like lesbian gyaru Kirino a lot.

That's all for now. Probably will finish Made in Abyss tomorrow. Could have done it earlier...but I'm...getting ready...*swallows*

It seems to be the season of first meh EPs and second great EPs.

Man, I'm soooo hyped for Saiki Kusuo 2, the show is just hysterical and has actual heartwarming moments with likable characters.

I remember I really liked that show, but I stopped watching it for some reason. I think the release style was kinda weird or something, I'm kinda anal about my simulcast routine.

It was hilarious though, I liked how the MC had plot armor and was very aware of it. Favorite part was probably when the girl was trying to get close to him, only for him to use his powers to subvert every rom-com cliche to keep them from having a moment.

Kinda reminded me of Sakamoto, Desu Ga? actually.

Well...I finished Made in Abyss. Still kinda reeling from it. I was bracing myself for sad...and still ended up bawling on the last episode. I was bracing myself for the wrong type of scene apparently.

Nanachi's backstory was absolutely tragic, and Mitty's death made me feel so many different things at once. Argh why did she have all the toys there! And then she had to stop Reg right at the last minute to say goodbye...oh god it's coming back again I have to pet my cat STAT.

I could write more, but I'm sure most people who wanted to watch have seen it already. Still, highly recommend to anyone who hasn't somehow. Very likable characters with very human personalities, brilliant animation and sound direction, and a very clever premise. Gave me a strong Hunter x Hunter feeling initially, but grew a lot more unique as it went on, which I appreciated.

Overall, absolutely amazing anime, and I'm hyped for season 2. I honestly can't think of an objective issue I had with it, other than maybe recap excess during the episodes (which only is annoying during binging anyway).

Gonna end this post with one of the prettiest anime ladies I've seen in a while.

Thought this would be fun to share, if anyone is curious make sure to check the nominations and strongly disagree with some (or most) of them

The toys crushed me in the manga.  I simply broke down on that page.  That image hit me like a sledgehammer.  It showed so much about Nanachi's feelings, so much more than words could ever could.  That was pure devotion and love.  I did the same thing again in the anime--it showed me that the producers understood what the mangaka was doing when they included it.

The last episode, in my opinion, is one of the best single episodes of anime ever created.  Even the one part that wasn't in the manga, the balloon rising up to the top, was stellar.  The music in that scene absolutely nailed it.

Then there is the information that Nanachi was supposed to die but became too popular to kill (at least, right away).  I can't even imagine.  I probably would have dropped the it immediately and scrubbed it from my mind.

And if there is a season 2 ... it certainly doesn't get any easier.
