Jojo in Shokugeki...wow. I think my AOTS is already decided.

The new Jojo OP is...not what I was expecting. It's not bad...but I hold Jojo OPs to a much higher standard after the last five openings. This one feels very standard in comparison...like something I'd see in Naruto. Nowhere near as great as Stand Proud or End of the World.

Speaking of Jojo yet again...the flashback sequence was kind of interesting. I wonder if the manga was as blatant about Josuke being saved by himself, or if that mystery pompadour was supposed to be a secret. *looks at Shadow*

Started watching Orange and 91 Days. Have a few more shows on my list that I want to try, but I've been distracted by other things lately. Still been working on a few other shows...I'm almost done with Dagashi Kashi. I've been getting a little bored of it; the food gags are hilarious, but when it tries to do anything else...I find myself daydreaming. I'll still finish it, but it's not something I'll remember long after it's over. I'd have enjoyed it more if the dad got more screen-time, or less fang-girl focus. I don't really care about shipping in this...just would prefer more of the funny characters.

To answer your question, yes the manga does make it pretty obvious that it was Josuke that saved himself. Araki was planning to do something with that, but eventually just dropped it halfway through Part 4. However, I think that he might do something with this in Part 8, but that might just be me overthinking things.

As for the OP, I can understand that it may not have the same impact as the previous ones, but the amount of references and foreshadowing from the very first second to the last one is amazing and shows how much love David Production puts into this series. It really sets up the tone shift that this Part is about to have soon. Just like each Part is different, so to should the OPs be to highlight that moment in a Jojo's life. The first OP for Josuke was really fun and just about him living his life like usual and here you can tell that things are gonna head south real fast in a chase(hehe). I think while the Part continues, you'll start to like it more like the other Jojo OPs.

Oh man, Sweetness and Lightning is so heartwarming, I love it so far.

Anybody else ships Kotori with Kouhei?... (99.9% sure is just me)

I feel like I can't talk about Momokuri anymore.

Why is this?

The Morose Mononokean ep 2 was also good. This is so much like that anime with the chubby yokai cat.

Whilst good, it lacks the magic Natsume Yuujinchou has (the anime with the cat your referring to) it feels like a poor man's Natsume, it just doesn't come close. It's lucky it's out this season, coz Natsume (I've probably said before. But it's my fav anime :p ) season 5 is next season and quite honestly I wouldnt give Morose a second look if it was coming out the same month.

That's not to say it's not good tho. I am enjoying it.

Well, I'm on episode 12 of Momokuri and I don't know if anyone else is to that point.  There are some things that are major spoilers.  Like, for instance, when Yuki has her breakdown and gets the kitchen knife, after which she (no, not really, it just feels strange to be talking about something where some people are several episodes behind) so blood was everywhere.

Sweetness & Lightening ep. 2.

If the rest of the series is half as good as this episode, then this will most likely be my AotS. Episode 2 was simply wonderful. I was smiling almost the entire time--well, except for laughing out loud at that 'wink'. Watched that part three times.

Kotori is a really good character. She's goofy and earnest but also sensitive. Saori Hayami is one of the best voice actresses out there. The little girl playing Tsumugi is doing an absolutely fantastic job. It's not just that her voice is cute, she's also really good at the emotional and comedy parts.

I like that Tsumugi pretty much decides everything, it's just a matter of how soon her father gives in.

The Morose Mononokean ep 2 was also good. This is so much like that anime with the chubby yokai cat.

You mean this? Also, yeah this seems like it's gonna be my AOTS as well.

Yep.  Was not expecting that and it cracked me up.

Ok I haven't seen it yet, but what the fuck is that wink face? XD

She had to learn such behavior from somewhere.  I blame anime.

I have to say Kabaneri is my AOTY so far! (And from the looks of it, I don't think it would change) Me and my brother just finished it and my mind just exploded how brutal it is! The last few eps did make me drop them tears =(

I seriously need to watch more Zombie apocalypse animes. From memory I've only seen HOTD and Gakkou Gurashi and both of them were really good! Hoping for a season 2 for these 3 animes! Well I might as well give up on HOTD.

Any suggestions?

Ah...so that's what you meant earlier. *nods*

And yeah...maybe it'll grow on me. The song itself is really catchy, and the animated sequence was well done, but overall it just seems...different from the other openings. All of the openings so far have seemed like they were written specifically with the arc in mind. For example, the first opening was basically telling the story of Jonathan and Dio, with the singer even shouting "JOJO!" in the end. It seemed like the rest of them did something similar, and the 4th opening bringing the first three singers together to shout "ORAORAORAORA" was amazing.

I guess there's a certain charm to realizing an OP is written specifically for an anime, rather than an existing song being selected because it fits the theme...and looking at the lyrics for this one, I feel like this OP might be the latter case. But hey, maybe I'll eat my words as it goes on...I'll acknowledge I'm speaking out of ignorance right now. I do like what you said about the OP matching the tone shift.

----------------------

In other news...I watched the first episode Psi Nan. It's funny...but holy god do I need to learn to read faster. There's constantly two rows of subtitles moving at once; I probably missed half of the dialogue. It's usually not a problem for me...but it was a little too much here.

Yeah, I also watched Psi Nan, been interested in it since I played as Saiki in J Stars VS.  I think it's pretty funny, but yeah way too much dialogue at the same time, I had to rewind a few times to get everything. I doubt this would be a problem with the manga, since you can just read that at your own pace, but I do like it so far.

Reminds of that character from one piece who couldn't wink.

I recently watched Kabaneri too. It's really good. I loved HOTD but I doubt it's getting anymore seasons. I haven't seen Gakkou Gurashi or heard of it but I added it on CC. It's called "School-live!" on there.

There's really that many offerings in the zombie apocalypse when it comes to anime. There's plenty of anime with zombie like characters or undead in 'em.
