Mighty Switch Force Review (3ds)

Originality: It’s a 2-d indie platformer (there are a TON of those these days) with a really dumbed down story yet a refreshing art style, utilization of the 3d effect, and a game that introduces a gameplay style that makes you extremely dependent on coordination and rhythm. Overall, it has multiple things in it that make it very unique and multiple things in it that make it extremely overdone.

15/20

Graphics: Obviously nothing to be too crazy about here. There are other indie games that looked graphically superior to this around the same time.

6/10

Art Style: Very Megaman-like in terms of art style, which has been done to death in various other games. The thing I liked the most was the glass shattering (especially in 3d mode) when you accidentally were pushed forward by a block reappearing.

5/15

Story: One of the worst stories I’ve ever encountered in a game ever.

4/30

Game Interface: Nothing to complain about here.

5/5

Controls easy and fluid or difficult and rigid? Somewhat difficult of a game in controls at points but nothing so severe that it seems accidental.

4/5

Is it fun? Yes, despite it’s significant flaws it is a fun game to play actually. The introduction of pop-out death itself was a fun thing to play through!

15/15

Total: 49/100

Bonus = I award this game a * because it’s ridiculously fun to play despite the flaws that make it a game I won’t miss playing (if that makes any sense? Lol).
