Wow, that's a high score, I'd score it 8.8.

Combat was too easy and repetitive, but everything else was pretty great. I never had to laugh so much in a video game.

That's the thing about my review system. It prevents me from putting a general score up and instead I grade each area then add them together. Sometimes the grades surprise me too lol.

The system doesn't work well for every game... How will you score Mario Kart 8 when the story is your most important aspect?

One of the best games of 2013, so underrated.

It will probably have an incredibly similar score to MarioKart 7 due to it's lack of story. I remember the days when Nintendo used to put a story into some of these types of games (like some of the really old Mario Party games). It's not that they can't do it, they just choose not to. And since they are intentionally being lazy when it comes to the story, it will have a significantly reduced overall grade. It wouldn't take that much effort to put a semi decent story into a Mario Kart game:

"Oh no! Waluigi and Bowser have stolen the legendary time crystal and warped back into time! You must race as baby Mario and friends in order to beat them in the 50cc grand prix in order to return to modern time and race as adults! What wonders await the winner of the 100cc grand prix? You'll have to find out!"

See how easy that was? You see how ridiculously easy that was? But NO! No one wants to put a story in a mario games (other than the rpg ones). It's stupid. The whole system is stupid and I'm not changing my reviews because the system is dumb.

Lol, such a story would make a Mario Kart game worse.

Well, I'm a different kind of gamer. Gameplay and level design would be responsible for 70 out of 100 points.

How could having a story actually make the game worse? Rather than feeling like your randomly racing just for the kicks of it, it would feel like there is actually a purpose for your advancement. This is like people saying they only want multiplayer in games (no story) and no single player (story).

Easily the best lego game and imo one of the major reasons to get a wii u. Only ptoblem I have is how long yhe gamepad takes to lad when scanning for collectables
