is it a good idea for sony to bundle their best game of the year, i mean console sales will increase but wouldn't they anyway. and there not going to make a profit on all the bundled copy's since the 80gb ps3 will be the same price. And is it just me, or do Sony seem to come out with a new bundle every few weeks

From the IGN article, it's starting to sound like they've changed their minds about it. I'm ok with that -- I'd prefer MGS4 to a few extra gigabytes -- but I did expect the replacement for the Motorstorm bundle to be out a little earlier than June.

Update: The PS blog says that the PS3 in the bundle is the same 80gb unit we're used to, i.e. the one with limited backwards compatibility. No surprises there, I guess. It is a little ironic though, that the Metal Gear Solid PS3 won't be able to play Metal Gear Solid 3. Maybe they'll get that straightened out before release for the sake of PR...


I'm pretty sure that the 80GB PS3 with limited BC can run all of the Metal Gear games from PS1 and PS2 with no major issues.

nice bundle, and bundling the ds3 was the only right way to do this.

should be sweet, to me this is much better than the motorstorm bundle.

you get a much better controller and a better game for the same price.

Indeed it is. Wow, I never thought Sony would come to bundling huge 3rd party games.

 


Looks to me like they're giving Konami some kick back for staying exclusive with them..

They have done the same thing in Japan in the past for the PS2, there was a FFXII-PS2 bundle with FFXII art all over the PS2. 

Seeing how much the Motorstorm bundle sold, this bundle alone is bound to increase MGS4 sales by half a million, maybe more ( depends how long it lasts and if they decide to do the same bundle in other too). Because there are customers that will get the bundle and didn't plan on buying MGS4.

Make that bundle available in Others and you have MGS4 selling over 100k units a week until the bundle is dropped lol..... 

Looks to me like the PS3 has it's first 4 Million+ seller inc !

 



PS3-Xbox360 gap : 1.5 millions and going up in PS3 favor !

PS3-Wii gap : 20 millions and going down !
