Forums - Gaming - An enquiry aimed at Dynasty Warriors fans.

As a Zelda fan I have a question for those of you who are a fan of the Dynasty Warriors series, if there are any on here; what do you think of Hyrule Warriors and what ideas from it would you A.) like to see carry back to the root series, and B.) hate to see carry back to the root series.

I have heard that a number of interesting minor changes are being made to make the gameplay feel slightly more like a Zelda combat spin-off without abandoning the Dynasty Warriors core and structure so that has left me curious. We Zelda fans seem to out-number and over-power you guys in terms of our opinions but truthfully I'd imagine that you guys have a better idea of what to expect from this.

Maybe I should look into Hyrule warriors. I thought it was another super smash bros type game, but if it is like dynasty warriors I might be interested.
I like zelda a lot more though. I've played dynasty warriors 6 on ps3, and now have 8 on ps4. It's enjoyable in splitscreen, yet I never feel compelled to dig far into it.

Yeah, its a Warriors game (hence the name Hyrule Warriors) developed by the people who make the Dynasty Warriors games with tons of Zelda fanservice and some sprinkles of Zelda-like flavor throughout. Also, you can play coop with one player on the TV and the other on the gamepad.

If you've had the chance to investigate it since posting this I'd love to hear your current opinion on the questions I asked.

The promised co-op has me interested, as long as it's actual co-op like dynasty warriors, not the mario galaxy type.
I don't want more focus on combat coming back to the main series, certainly not hack 'n slash. It's fine for a spin off, but the main series should remain more of a puzzle action adventure. Optional co-op in a Zelda game would be great however.

They have shown an image of co op with one player on the tv and the other on the gamepad screen.

I hope you can also do splitscreen though.

While I'm crazy hyped from right Hyrule Warriors the only new thing I've seen is a Z-target like system which I don't want in future Musou games.

Edit- and the Zelda items like the hookshot etc. Which I don't see fitting into Musou all that well

Yes, or a small pip window on the tv of what the other person is seeing so you know where they are.
My son likes to play on the gamepad when we're playing the lego movie game. But then I have no idea where he is off too, while he can still see where I am on the tv.
