But do you sell your old games?

I buy just about everything digital now. Way more convenient and frankly, more modern. I mean, I'm about to sell the last of my physical stuff to buy them digital, but I wouldn't really care if I couldn't. I bought them all cheap (new) and wil get even less for them.

The only things I buy physical now are games I know I won't return like the Pokemon's and the Zelda's, and I've even broken that rule already since I bought OoT3D and ALBW digital, I own WWHD digitally, my favorite game of all time, and plan on buying Alpha Sapphire digitally.

Would have pissed me off a bit since I sometimes trade games with my friends, but I don't buy used games so it wouldn't have been that big of a deal for me. I rarely play consoles anymore though so that might be the reason why I wouldn't care that much. I've had a PS4 for more than a month now and I haven't played it once. I also haven't played my Wii U since a bit after Mario Kart came out.

The deal breaker for the Xbox One for me was the online check up thing. Not so much the no used games. So if this scenario of Sony joining MS in killing off used games used the same online check up system then yeah I wouldn't have bought a PS4 probably.

* Buy the way you want—disc or digital—on the same day

* Access your entire games library from any Xbox One

* Share access to your games with everyone inside your home

* Give your family access to your entire games library anytime, anywhere

* Trade-in and resell your disc-based games

* Give your games to friends

MS had everything covered but were unable to comunicate it with the internet-mob.

We would have all the pros of a modern system for the cost most of us pay when we use Steam or AppStore.

*EDIT*

it would be even better than Steam as you coud sell your disc-based game, and give it to friends. You can not do that on Steam can you?

That would require an internet connection. I already said that the online requirement was the deal breaker. I sometimes carry my console with me to places where there isn't an online connection. I also don't want my console to be almost useless if I don't pay my internet bill.

I live in a Tier 3 country. We are rich enough, we have the good enough infrastructure. Still we do not get Xone officially before this September. I know that MS do not live or die if I do not buy their box. The target market for Xone is middle-class people in big cities in the USA and parts of Europe. I will never have the full Xone experiance. I will never be able to switch to ESPN, To Hulu or even Amazon Video. I would never find a store that was connected to MS and would accept my used game.

Still I belive they were doing the right thing.

Let's not forget:

*Any disc based game is useless after installation.  Requiring the publishers permission to trade in a game (at participating retailers only)

*24 hour check ins... "as if you're an ex-con, and Microsoft's the fucking parole board"[Jim Sterling]

*Required broadband connection

*$100 peripheral no one asked for required Kinect required

I think MS "communicated" everything juuuust fine.

All this, except for the Kinect, is true if you buy games at Steam too, yet the internet-mob loves Steam.

I would hate PS4, I would called them destroyer of the industry and would be very clear that they don't understand the gamers interest, then they would 180 EVERY SINGLE THING to catch attention. Oh wait, but that's just how Microsoft works. :)

3DS, Wii, PSP, Vita, PS2, PS3, PS4 & Steam.

Wii U, so...nothing different. But I'd be much less likely to buy either of the other consoles until they were sufficiently hacked.

That said, the way Microsoft went about it was really oppressive. I personally don't play PC games because my PC is crap, but if I had a top of the line PC, I'd probably play games on it. PC has several options that do digital and DRM right. I'd hope that if Sony did follow in Microsoft's footsteps, they'd at least be closer to Steam than Microsoft with their policies. Maybe even better than Steam.

Another thought, if the two biggest third party centric consoles killed off used games, we'd probably see a LOT more digital only releases, perhaps almost exclusively, even. Microsoft made the disks irrelevant, so why would consumers or publishers want to waste their time in such a scenario?

Given that, would Wii U see a lot more third party support, since there'd be no pressure to do a retail release, and a digital only release would be less risky?

I'm a digital gamer anyway, do it would affect me very little.

I just hope people realize that used games are not going to last forever. The industry will almost certainly embrace fully-digital in the next decade or so. I love having a choice too, but that's the way things are going.
