Forums - Gaming - The difference between the failure of the XB1 and the Wii U.

Compared to the PS4's insane success, they're failing. The Xbox One is doing better than the 360 at this stage in its life, isn't it?

The Wii U is a failure from the sales perspective. It is a failure because of what it hasn't done yet. The XB1 is a failure as well. It is failing because of what it can't do. That's the biggest difference, and only one of those is, relatively, easily corrected.

I thought it was the other way around. X1 because of sales and Wii U because of what it can't.

It goes both ways. The way the article said if you look at First Party support, and the way you said if you look at Third Party support.

Wii U

If you look at third party, the wii u will never have a selling point even if it has the third party game, cuz the ps4 will always look way better. If you look at first party games, the wii u has not realeased all of the heavy hitters and nintendo first party are lnown to push a lot of hardware. They also are known to inovate a lot to breing varied crowds. so we just need to wait for nintendo to bring all their A games not just one.

X1

If you look at third party, the x1 is almost completly dependant on thir party games, worst of all is that third party are not selling ass good as the ps4 because its far inferior so this will never be a turn around for the x1. If you look at first party, the x1 does not have a lot to offer, the only big franchise that can sell the console is halo and its far away, gears has drop a lot in sales and the new one is a totally diferent studio so its unknown potential but still far away. Even if they decide to invest a lot in first party studios by the time they drop wich will be at least 2 years, its going to be to late, the gap betwen the ps4 will be far to large. So in this regard the x1 cant fight with its first party studios.

So no, x1 cant fight in any way, while the wii u can fight with their first party studios.

Xbox One: Best selling Xbox console so far.
Wii-U: Worst selling Nintendo console so far.

What was that about failure again?

That's not helping considering the best selling xbox console is still behind the Nintendo's worst selling one.

Proud to be the first cool Nintendo fan ever

Number ONE Zelda fan in the Universe

DKCTF didn't move consoles

Prediction: No Zelda HD for Wii U, quietly moved to the succesor

Predictions for Nintendo NX and Mobile

Don't judge the consoles until its first real christmas!

In WiiU's case we should judge it in its second (or third?) christmas

3DS FC :  4339 - 3326 - 7693. Add me :) Nickname Tin

VGChartz says that for the whole last year the WiiU sold 3.1mi. The XOne with only 6 weeks sales sold 3mi.

Last year by the end of july the cumulative sales of WiiU was 3.3mi. The XOne is at worst case sold  5mi.

Bonus facts: XOne is $200 more expencive than the WiiU. XOne is facing a titan competitor that is (was) $100 cheaper.

But you can't really say that's failing if one is longer on the market and has hade more game releases. Failure is always something relative. So here is a graph to put things in perspective for you:

So the wii u sold 0 consoles this year?

Power isn't needed for innovation, and innovation clearly trumps power when done right.

This isn't anywhere close to correct. Power doesn't lead to direct innovation, but a lot of new things demand computational power to be done. Open world games, proceduraly generated enviroments, new sound tech, new animation, new physics. This changes the way games are played.

Pretty much what I was going to say.  Design innovation is ultimately dependent on technological innovation.  That cannot be argued.  Mario Galaxy would not have been close to the same game on the SNES.  The FPS genre would never have taken off the same way if they all remained in tunnels.  Da Vinci's work would not have been the same if he was limited to drawing on paper with charcoal.  More "power", to use a very general word for a lot of different elements, gives artists more paints, more brushes, and a much bigger canvas.
