Forums - Microsoft - Does MS have an IP that on level with Gears or Halo that we don't know about?

Looks like you're just one generic super soldier amongst many in the first pic and Master Chief fighting alongside normal human marines in the second pic. I guess MS took them under their wings and really showed them how to emphasize character and story. Bravo, MS.

He didn't even take time to research and now wants me to argue against his futilities.

Not today!

SIXTEEN pages of stupid arguments, and no one bothered to answer the OP with the obvious? The spirit of the OP, however poorly worded the title is, is to ask: "What else does Microsoft have up their sleeve?", and the poster was hoping someone would think of something he didn't. Apparently you ALL forgot about this guy:

and this guy:

Both, if given a proper budget for a proper reboot, developed by someone OTHER than Rare (who are no longer capable of doing these IPs justice), could be on par with Gear, at the very least.

What else do they have from the Rare aquisition? Probably wouldn't be quite up there with Gears, but it'd do pretty well and give Microsoft another franchise to brag about. Why not reboot these guys?

Imagine a reboot with them making their way through difficult action stages, sometimes on a variety of vehicles, now in fully 3D environments, and with gameplay expanded beyond the bare bones beat em' up mechanics of its past. Could become Microsoft's equivilent to Star Fox, except without spaceships obviously.

Want an FPS? Perfect Dark, sure it didn't do so great with Perfect Dark Zero, but it needs a real marketing budget.

Want a TPS? Jet Force Gemini, it deserves a chance, would also need a good marketing push.

Seriously people, imagine if next E3, Microsoft pulled out all these guns at once. Get developers other than Rare developing them, and treat each of them as not just standalone titles, but as a new beginning for each franchise. Well, except for Banjo and Conker, who shouldn't be rebooted, just given sequels. Get Chris Seavor on Conker and let him do whatever the fuck he wants. Pay whatever you need to pay him to do it. Microsoft has a ton of untapped potential with Rare IPs, and while I personally don't trust Rare with any of them, given the right developer and the right budget, all of them could see a glorious revival.

You think that really matters to them?

They just wanna say how much they hate MS, period.

It's a bait!

Yeah, I guess, but I wanted to promote some real discussion. All the MS fans just gave up without trying, simply saying "how could we know about an IP that we don't know about?" Sure, the title makes no sense, but aside from one or two mentions of Perfect Dark, none of my examples were mentioned. It just really bothered me that such glaringly obvious options that Microsoft clearly could pull out anytime (and have hinted to as much in recent months) were completely overlooked. I'm admittedly a Nintendo fan first, but I'm also a huge Rare IP fan, and I'm not so irrational that I don't see that Microsoft is sitting on a gold mine. None of my examples would fill the same place as Halo or Gears (not that Halo needs replacing, and I don't see why Gears shouldn't have plenty of life left too), but in terms of getting sales, interest, and a varied game library of successful franchises, all Microsoft has to do is pull out some Rare classics. That said, I think the reason they haven't pulled the trigger on such big guns yet is that they're being careful to find the right talent to do the games justice. I don't have the money or the motivation to buy either PS4 or XBO just yet, but if they annouced all those games I listed (or at least a Conker sequel), I might have to sell a kidney.

We never know what's going on in those offices.

Nintendo is also sitting on Star Fox, Metroid, etc...

I think Microsoft is wary of using Rares IPs after Nuts and Bolts flopped, im not sure they would even bother purchasing Rare if they had their time again. Although it did deal Nintendo a massive blow that theyre still feeling so I guess some good came out of it.

MS will only revive what they feel is a financially viable option. They have Rares fleet, but only believe in a handful of them. Thats pretty easy to see now. They wont even let Rare develop Killer Instinct and Conker is being used in Project Spark.

I just showed you a link to a video and the facts. YOU HAVE SHOWN ME NOTHING. There is no spine in your argument. ALL TYPE AND ZERO ACTION with showing me proof of what you're saying. You can pick at what I said, but I PROVED the name of the project was Halo, I showed you the video showing off the assets. Steve Jobs was talking about the fact that Bungie was helping them with their graphics so they could compete and Halo was supposed to help put Mac on the map as a potential gaming computer.

All you showed me was that you didn't do your homework and don't know JACK about HALO.

I ask this question because MS gave up on Black Tusks new game to go continue status quo with Gears of War. So....where is the new IP that will take over when Halo and Gears get old? Did I miss anything at E3? Sure, MS has a lot of fun games that pass the time like Dance Central Spotlight, Forza Horizon, Ori and the Blind Forest, Crackdown and more. Where is the heavy hitter that will show Microsofts internal investment in the future of the company? Please....don't say Scalebound. MS isnt even making that and I know that wont be huge. I love platinum but they make great filler games to pass the time.

Where is the new IPs that will take over when Gran Tourismo and Mario get old?

Sony has and Nintendo have created how many new IPs? And still nothing bigger than those franchises. Failures!!!
