Forums - Nintendo - Do people honestly think that Hyrule Warriors will do well? Like at all?

http://plebegaming.wordpress.com/2014/07/09/hyrule-warriors-has-a-lot-riding-on-it/

Hyrule Warriors would be hard pressed to sell less than 1mil lifetime.

1) Musou games have been experienced by very few people over the years.
2) Zelda means tons of exposure.
3) Some of the best received Musou games in recent years were cross-overs.
4) Wii U fans want games.
5) The worst part of Musou games is quality, Nintendo won't let there be a low quality Zelda title, barring legal action.

It's a beautiful looking game that does stand to benefit from the drought. There's nothing else until the holiday rush, and it's friggin Zelda. These days, no company given the opportunity to work on a Zelda game will put forth less than SSS effort to make it good. And did you see Anouma sitting there with them at the Nintendo Digital Event? He was practically threatening them lol.

I think this game has too much fanservice to bomb.

It certainly has a much wider appeal than actual Dynasty Warriors games because of the Zelda paintjob. It has the attention of Zelda fans, and we're not getting a real Wii U Zelda game in a while.

I'd say 700k is guaranteed, and I believe it's going to sell over a million.
For some reason there seems to be a lot of hype surrounding this game... actually, that reason is because they're promoting it really well. I'm not a big fan of Dynasty Warriors, but for some reason they're making Hyrule Warriors look really good.

True. It wont only be DW with a Zelda skin. Its kind of a celebration of both franchises.

Its a Mousou game with Link, if it didnt had Link in it the game would review on the 6.0 range and nobody would even remeber it exists, since it has Link in it it automatically gets at least a 9 from reviewers and ppl will buy the game.

Thats just silly. If the game turns out bad, then it will get bad scores. Its just that Nintendo rarely puts out a bad game.

Online bets mean nothing if you're going to win anyway, which means you're not completely sure of yourself.

What do I gain from making you delete your account? Nothing. I don't need to embarass you to justify my point. Online bets are immature.

It'll do fine, they don't have many games to look for so they will buy it just for being part of the Zelda Brand.

I think it will sell around 800 000, mainly because of the Zelda IP. People here underestimate how nobody care about a massive combat game like Dynasty warrior in the West.

I think a lot of it is that people in the West don't even know what Dynasty Warriors is based on. I don't know anyone else who can even name one of the kingdoms involved.

I know a sh*tload of people who can tell me about Zelda though.

It's about the genre, it's a complete niche. The game will get average critics as all DW,a nd the bashing/disappointment train will start. This game is for the japanese market.

What I'm saying is that, outside of Japan, less than five million people have bought a Musou game over the course of three console generations. Most people see the box, know nothing of it, and leave it. Nothing about Dynasty Warriors would stick out to Western audiences. Outside of the internet, I've only met two other people that have even heard of Dynasty Warriors, let alone played it.

Zelda increases exposure. Even among those in the know about Musou games, they think that if any Musou game would be good it would be Zelda. It's also the first Musou Nintendo has actively participated in creating.
