A GameStop manager has been in contact to say that he’s heard rumblings in the office that that every copy of Smash Bros for Wii U will come with a free Amiibo figure. He also says that he has been hearing that the street date for the Wii U version will be November 21st. He wishes to remain anonymous, so I can’t verify these claims. However it does sound fairly plausible. Hopefully we won’t have to wait too long for Nintendo to grace us with an official release date.

This post is not so much to discuss the validity of the rumor, but the impact that such a move could have on Nintendo's profits. I never had much faith in Amiibo, but I also, rather stupidly, never even though of the idea of bundling it with Smash. That changes everything, at least to me. I'm buying it digitally, so this doesn't effect me, but if I was buying it physical, and I was already getting the Pikachu Amiibo for free, I would be unbearably tempting for me to also buy one of Charizard, Greninja, Lucario, and inevitably Jigglypuff to complete that mini collectiong. This is coming from someone who has had zero interest in these or any figures/toy since he was 10.
My point is that after having one, it's hard not to want more. Discuss.
