That doesnt sound very good....
But then again 'more than double' could mean quite a lot.
Still holding my expectations really low.

Not really, all it means with absolute certainty is that it didn't sell more than triple.

Yeah i know, but there is a big gap between selling twice as much or a little less than triple the numbers.

Not bad the increase indeed helped sales!

So we should expect around 155-160k for NPD tomorrow?

Thats what I'm thinking. Are they conceeding they didn't win, or are they confident and doing what Sony did in March?

I donno. I guess technically "more than double" could mean just under tripple, but I have a feeling it's closer to just barely over double.

PS4:  215k
XB1:  160k
WiiU: 150k

That's my picks for home consoles tomorrow.

8th gen predictions. (made early 2014)
PS4: 60-65m
WiiU: 30-35m
X1: 30-35m
3DS: 80-85m
PSV: 15-20m

are they talking weekly average or for the full 30 days or NPD numbers?

so double in a 5 week month following a massive dip in may. probably still lose to ps4. availible sales indicators show a big spike at the kinectless sku at launch but a fast dropoff to pre-release numbers suggesting an unsustained boost.

awesome.

Didnt xbox one sales reduce by alot in may because of the early price cut announcement. So 100% more isn't that too impressive of a jump

Yup. As soon as Microsoft announced the Kinectless Xbox One, sales took a hit. 100% in comparison to May wouldn't even be that much.

I also wonder why they announced this now. NPD is tomorrow right? Damage control?

Month to month NPD. May was 77k, and June will be 160k-170k.

PS4 is expected in the 200k range.

June is a 5 week month.

e=mc^2

Gaming on: PS4 Pro, Switch, SNES Mini, Wii U, PC (i5-7400, GTX 1060)

Exactly this. They set it up as best they could for a 'reset' by announcing the $399 SKU a month early, basically throwing May into the toilet.

Regardless of what actually happened with June, they could claim a 'massive increase' in sales, when in fact, it's barely more than the previous baseline INCLUDING a bubble on the June 9th, 10th, 11th timeframe (that's when the charts spiked with XB1 consoles for a couple of days before falling through the floor again).

With July not having another bubble of pent-up sales (people that had waited for the $399 SKU to appear and held off in May entirely), it remains to be seen if they will even be able to maintain the PRE-May baseline.

TL:DR - May was meaningless other than to see just how bad sales could be damaged by announcing $100 off a month in advance :P

...and we are lining up incredible deals and special promotions to celebrate.

Does this mean we could get a Xbox One for 350$ ? Heck, with bundles and discounts, hopefully it can go as low as 300$.
