Lol. Sorry. PC gamers wont have the opportunity to play the last of us. They cant have what they want. Their jealousy is beyondmy imagination.

Please try to understand that most PC gamers couldn't care less about your exclusives. I am PC + Sony gamer but I have absolutely no interest in TLoU, it doesn't appeal to me in any way. I bought into the Uncharted hype and those clunky cover shooters were a waste of my time and nerves. Gran Turismo is a driving school sim only more annoying than the real thing LOL etc etc.

Good for you. But what about these?

1. Console guys have no intention to play pc exclusives. Yet developers like star citizen draggs consoles because they have ego issue.

2. Petition for gta v crosses hundreds of thousands. But petition for pc exclusives are hardly seen and have none to sign.

3. Why did the article included the last of us? We all know. Deep down all pc gamers want to play high profile console exclusives.

David Cole makes an interesting claim about the general ownership of devices, stating that “the big difference is that consoles are now the luxury item and PCs are the necessity. Just a few years ago the reverse was true.” I believe this is the case because our perception of what constitutes a PC has fundamentally changed. Consider that Blizzard’s wildly popular digital card game Hearthstone is playable on a Microsoft MSFT +0.74% Surface, a $4000 custom gaming PC, and an iPad. All of which double as productivity devices, communication devices, and entertainment consumption devices.

I should have stopped after this underlined nonsense, but unfortunately I kept reading.

So, PCs were not a necessity 5/10/20 years ago? It is amazing that such ingenious machine just became necessary now, in 2014, I wonder how it managed to survive 30 years of being a luxury item bought by very few wealthy people.

And of course consoles were a huge necessity in 2008. So, that's why 100 million Wiis were sold - word-processing, spreadsheets, communication, data storage etc. I'm so glad such necessary hardware even existed.

uh, maybe I could go on, but all this sarcasm has extinguished my will to go any further. But, maybe I'm wrong. Because 900 million gamers surely cannot be.

And pc hardware revenue goes high but pc software contribute 17% to ubisoft's last quarter sales where new platform like ps4 has 37 /. Reality is something pc crowd want to neglect.

Thats revenue coming from mobas and facebook shovelware of course is higher.

This article doesn't make much sense. Of course the pc gaming market is huge when you add up tablets, laptops, gaming pc's and everything in between. But the harsh fact is that pc versions of console games, that require a decent gaming pc to run, never sell anything close to the console numbers. I mean there's a reason why developers are all focusing their resources on consoles, it's just where the money is at.

Why not counting online gambling too? I'm sure the revenue would be even higher then. *sigh*

LOL as long as they keep making money, which is a very long time!

The fight should only end if there is no money to be made. Now that Sony and Microsoft have moved to system on a chip boxes that are profitable 6 months from launch, that aspect is only going to increase.

If Sony and Microsoft do things right Consoles should become the ideal home electronic. Microsoft escpecially has a major advantage if they give XBO access to Windows full suite of apps. A device that is hooked to the TV that can give you games, movies, live tv, on demand, internet, word, phone calls, full cross compatibility between your phone/tablet/PC all on your main screen and at the touch of a button or via voice.

Don't get me wrong. PC is a great tool for gaming, but it is not the best experiance in the living room.I have my PC hooked up to my main TV, but using it as opposed to the consoles is a chore. PC as much as it has improved is just not built to be used for entertainment. X360, XBO, and PS4 are all so well integrated, quick, and easy to use thateven the ability to play games in 4k on PC is not going to help.

For the average consumer, PC will continue to be a place to browse the web, send email, and play flash games. Consoles will be the box that they hook to their tv for, madden, cod, blu-rays, and netflix.

I'm a console gamer and I will always play games on Consoles!   Exclusive games are the main reason.  PC can be really powerful, but nobody will never squeeze all that power, it's a big waste.

Eh? The money is in MMORPG's and MOBA's on PC right now, the way things are going this gen console sales are going to end up nowhere near last gens which just means fewer game sales.PC is king right now and is only increasing it's lead as console sales continue to drag.
