Either to lock in price (if there is a promo), or to have it pre-download, so that at 12:01 AM on release day, you can start playing (instead of downloading from overloaded servers as everyone tries to download the game at the same time).

It's not the only perk. If you can't preorder then the game can't preinstall and therefore is not ready to play when you are. If you wake up on release day and get the kids ready for school, the goto work, then pick the kids up, then put the kids to bed it might be 21.00 before you put the Xbox on. If you then have to wait for the install it may be another day before you get to play.

apparently,.. for how much better live is suppose to be than psn pretty much every new feature i've seen announced this year has been on psn for ages.  i mean, when was digital pre-orders introduced on psn?   2009?

hopefully ms introduce digital pre-loading at the same time.

Awesome, I'm 100% digital now and I hate to miss the pre-order bonus because of it :)
